The Senior Manager, Business Advisory acts as a strategic advisor to the Director Product, Platform & Proposition, Tangerine Business and leadership team, providing small business, commercial, entrepreneurial, and ecosystem insight to help grow and scale Tangerine Business. With a primary focus on client development & growth, the role translates market opportunities, client needs, and external perspectives into clear recommendations that inform growth strategy, proposition, partnerships, go-to-market priorities, and long-term value creation.

Reporting to the Director, Product, Platform and Proposition, Tangerine, Business, the role will work closely with the Managing Director, Tangerine Business, and cross-functional partners across Product, Client Solutions, Marketing, Community and Ecosystem, Operations, Risk, Finance, Data, Analytics, and Technology. The role is intended for someone who can bring an external small business growth perspective, such as experience from business development, entrepreneurship, economic development, BDC-style advisory environments, fintech, consulting, or teams supporting small business growth. The role will help ensure Tangerine Business is grounded in the realities of entrepreneurs and small business owners, while building scalable, digitally enabled experiences that support growth, client acquisition, engagement, and long-term value creation.

The Senior Manager, Business Advice and Client Growth will lead the development of Business Advice as a differentiated, value-added proposition for Tangerine Business clients. The role will identify where entrepreneurs and small business owners need greater guidance, tools, expertise and connections, and translate those needs into scalable experiences that help clients start, manage and grow their businesses.

Reporting to the Director, Product, Platform and Proposition, Tangerine Business, the Senior Manager will define the Business Advice strategy, value proposition, roadmap and delivery model. This may include digitally enabled guidance, financial management tools, educational content, expert access, ecosystem partnerships, peer learning and referrals to specialized services.

The role will work directly with small business owners and external ecosystem participants to understand their needs, test new concepts and continuously improve the proposition. It will also collaborate across Product, Client Solutions, Marketing, Community and Ecosystem, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Data, Analytics and Technology to ensure that Business Advice experiences are relevant, trusted, commercially sustainable and operationally scalable.

The Senior Manager will also bring external small business, commercial and entrepreneurial perspectives into Tangerine Business strategy and leadership decision-making. Success will be measured by the role's ability to turn client insight into a distinctive proposition that improves client outcomes, strengthens engagement and loyalty, and contributes to the long-term growth of Tangerine Business.

Is this role right for you? - In this role you will:

  • Define the vision, target client needs and differentiated value proposition for Business Advice within Tangerine Business.
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year Business Advice roadmap aligned with the Tangerine Business strategy, client proposition and product roadmap.
  • Determine where Tangerine can credibly add value across areas such as cash flow management, financial capability, business planning, growth readiness, access to capital, digital adoption and connections to the broader business ecosystem.
  • Define the appropriate mix of digital guidance, tools, content, human support, peer learning and partner-delivered services.
  • Develop executive-ready recommendations and business cases to support investment, prioritization and proposition decisions.

Client discovery and proposition development
  • Engage directly with entrepreneurs, small business owners and ecosystem participants to understand client needs, behaviours and unmet opportunities.
  • Translate client insight, market intelligence and competitive trends into clear proposition requirements, experiences and initiatives.
  • Design and test Business Advice concepts through research, prototypes, pilots and structured experimentation.
  • Use client feedback and performance data to continuously improve the proposition from launch through scale.
  • Ensure the needs of different client segments and business stages are reflected in proposition design.

Delivery and commercialization
  • Lead the end-to-end development and launch of priority Business Advice initiatives in partnership with Product, Client Solutions, Marketing, Community and Ecosystem, Operations and Technology.

  • Shape how Business Advice is embedded across acquisition, onboarding, engagement, service and growth journeys.
  • Work with Marketing and Client Solutions to develop clear client-facing positioning and ensure the proposition is understood and consistently delivered.
  • Identify opportunities to connect Business Advice with relevant Tangerine Business products and services without compromising client trust or the quality of the advice experience.
  • Act as a strategic business advisory partner to the Managing Director, Tangerine Business and leadership team, providing insight and recommendations on how to grow, scale, and differentiate Tangerine Business.
  • Bring external small business, entrepreneurial, commercial, and ecosystem perspectives into leadership decision-making, ensuring strategies are informed by real business owner needs and market dynamics.
  • Translate small business client needs, ecosystem insights, and competitive trends into practical recommendations that shape Tangerine Business's growth strategy, proposition, service model, product roadmap, partnerships, and client experience.
  • Provide strategic advice and challenge to support executive prioritization, including where Tangerine Business should focus, what opportunities to pursue, and how to better serve entrepreneurs and small business owners through digital-first banking and value-added services.
  • Identify market opportunities, client pain points, business owner behaviours, emerging needs, and ecosystem partnership opportunities that can inform new capabilities, journeys, and growth initiatives.
  • Develop executive-ready business cases, strategic recommendations, decision materials, and performance insights to support discussions with the Managing Director and senior leadership.
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Community and Ecosystem, Client Solutions, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Data, Analytics, and Technology to ensure recommendations are commercially sound, operationally feasible, and aligned to risk and control expectations.
  • Champion a client-obsessed culture by ensuring the voice of small business owners is reflected in decision-making, product design, go-to-market planning, and ongoing business growth activities.
  • Leverage a growth mindset, embracing learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement as Tangerine Business evolves from launch through scale.
  • Contribute to a dynamic workplace that fosters trust, integrity, inclusion, transparency, and momentum across teams.
  • Lead the development of a new value proposition for Tangerine Business clients.
  • Influence delivery across multiple cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority
  • Manage a portfolio of Business Advice initiatives, pilots and external partnerships.
  • Support business case development and investment prioritization for new capabilities.
  • Establish performance measures covering client value, engagement, adoption, operational effectiveness and commercial contribution.
  • Potentially manage third-party vendors, subject-matter experts and ecosystem partners as the proposition develops
