Job Summary & Objectives

The Senior Lateral Recruiting & Associate Life Coordinator supports the Legal Recruiting Team in all efforts related to recruitment of lateral associates and counsel, in addition to judicial clerks and LLM candidates. Specific lateral recruitment duties include liaising with search firms and maintaining those relationships; building and promoting the STB brand; and coordinating applicant sourcing. 

The Senior Coordinator will work closely with the Manager of Legal Recruiting & Associate Life and the Director of Legal Talent – Regional Strategy to monitor and assess hiring by practice group, deliver relevant headcount data & metrics and oversee the lateral budget.

They will also assist with additional Legal Recruiting work streams including summer associate program logistics, the law school recruiting season, and Associate Life projects, as needed.  

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide full lifecycle lateral recruitment support, including screening resumes, scheduling interviews, meeting with candidates as needed, collecting interviewer feedback, managing applicant tracking system, preparing offers, and communicating status updates to candidates and partners
  • Coordinate search implementation and approval of hires, including coordination of specific candidate terms
  • Prepare regular status and pipeline reports for Director of Legal Talent – Regional Strategy and Hiring Partners
  • Facilitate and schedule a high volume of interviews (i.e., manage logistics, circulate calendar invitations)
  • Establish and maintain relationships and regularly communicate with search agencies
  • Work closely with Bay Area Legal Recruiting team on lateral onboarding process and integration into the firm
  • Coordinate across Simpson offices for an integrated and cohesive approach
  • Ensure accuracy of information in the applicant tracking system (viRecruit)
  • Coordinate varying projects for summer associate program and law student recruiting efforts
  • Assist in planning and attend recruiting and summer events as needed
  • Occasional travel for on-campus recruiting events
  • Work in the Palo Alto location and work overtime when needed

Education

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Skills and Experience

Required

  • 3 to 4 years legal recruiting experience required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact well and build professional relationships while maintaining confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for both long- and short-term projects and responsibilities
  • Collaborative approach to working with others of all seniority levels and the ability to develop and maintain favorable relationships with attorneys and staff
  • Must have a professional demeanor and possess excellent administrative abilities
  • Ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and organize, prioritize, plan and multi-task work activities in a fast-paced environment

  • The position will require overtime hours
  • This position will be based in San Francisco and will require periodic days in Palo Alto

Salary Information

CA Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000 at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is non-exempt meaning it is overtime pay eligible.
