Full Job Description
About the Role:

We are hiring a Manager, HSE Communications to join our Internal Comms team and help us align, inform, and train employees on health, safety, and environment (HSE).

Our people work in a myriad of ways: in the field, at power plants, at data centers, on construction sites, on the factory floor, in offices, and traveling in between. Many of them don't sit at a desk during the workday. Safety is Job #1 and we want them to have the knowledge and tools to work productively and safely.

We're looking for a communications practitioner and world-class writer who can turn complex HSE topics into clear, consistent, relevant communications. Furthermore, the desired candidate should be proficient in visual communication to design media-such as logos, graphics, and posters-that translates expectations into clear, direct messaging across diverse operational environments.

You'll be embedded in the corporate HSE team working with HSE Program Managers, our HSE Training Manager, Safety Engineers, and other HSE leaders throughout the enterprise to identify and prioritize critical topics, and build the internal comms plan to address them. The role takes mastery of messaging and storytelling, a roll-up-your-sleeves approach to execution, and a meticulous eye for detail.

Your work may extend to external comms, too. Our HSE strategy is distinctly Crusoe, and telling that story well can build the brand with customers, partners, and candidates.

We're an AI-first company. We want a comms practitioner who treats AI as core to their daily work - someone who uses modern AI tools to scale their impact and sharpen their output.

What You'll Be Working On:
  • HSE Narrative Development. Partner with Crusoe's HSE subject matter experts to sharpen messaging - translating complex topics into compelling stories for a range of employee audiences.
  • HSE Internal Comms Plan. Own and execute an annual internal comms plan, reviewed and adjusted quarterly, in partnership with HSE leaders.
  • Reaching a Deskless Workforce. Build a channel strategy that reaches employees who don't work at a desk - digital signage, SMS, shift huddles, printed materials, mobile-first content. Figure out what works for each work environment and iterate.
  • Video and Multimedia. Cutting through the clutter of daily comms is central to this role. Produce video and other multimedia that hold audience attention and make safety content something people want to watch.
  • Incident and Crisis Comms. Build the playbook for HSE incident communications and lead the comms response when something happens - fast, accurate, coordinated with HSE, Comms, Legal, and leadership.
  • Training and Enablement. Work with the HSE team, and our HSE Training Manager to shape the delivery and communication of safety training content, onboarding materials, and toolbox talks so the message lands the same way in every setting.
  • Leader Enablement. Equip managers and frontline supervisors with talking points, cascade materials, and the context they need to carry safety messaging to their teams.
  • Thought Leadership. Work with HSE leaders to develop blogs, high-impact op-eds, speaking content, and social posts that establish Crusoe as a leader in HSE.
  • Competitive Intelligence. Monitor the HSE landscape for comms strategies and tactics worth borrowing.
  • Creative Partnership. Direct Crusoe's Brand Studio team to create brand assets for HSE communications, when the comms might have an external audience.
  • Listening Mechanisms. Build and run pulse surveys and a feedback tool that tell us which HSE topics need attention.
  • Measurement. Track audience metrics and outcomes, using data to sharpen the strategy and show what's working.
  • Compliance Partnership. Coordinate with Legal and HSE compliance on communications with regulatory exposure.

What You'll Bring to the Team:
  • Experience. 5+ years in communications with a track record of running successful comms programs end-to-end.
  • Exceptional Writing. Audience-first, clear, relevant, consistent. You write with nuance and real insight into what grabs and holds attention.
  • AI-First Mindset. You use AI daily and have built it into your workflows and you pick up new tools as they emerge.
  • Domain Expertise. Experience in HSE; industrial, energy, construction, or manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
  • Crisis Comms. You've built the plan and led the comms effort through a safety incident or similar high-stakes event.
  • Multimedia Production. Hands-on video skills - you can shoot, edit, and direct, or brief and manage a production partner to a high standard.
  • Frontline Instinct. You know how to reach people who don't sit at a desk, and you've done it.
  • High Agency. You're comfortable executing with limited resources and high ambiguity. You spot the opportunity and build the plan without waiting for a roadmap.
  • Collaboration by Default. You build trust across functions - HSE, Comms, Marketing, Legal - and move fast without stepping on toes. We're a lean, agile team.
  • Results Orientation. Metrics-driven and accountable, with a history of turning communications work into measurable outcomes.
  • Site Readiness. Willing and able to work in active industrial and construction environments, including required PPE and site safety training.

Benefits:

  • Restricted Stock Units
  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs
  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance
  • Employer contributions to HSA account
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement
  • Mental health & wellness support
  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)
  • Cell phone stipend
  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary
  • Volunteer time off
  • Global travel insurance & emergency assistance
  • Daily meals allowance
  • Additional perks & programs specific to location

Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $160,000-$195,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant's knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
