Create and update calibration procedures for permanently installed instrumentation and shipboard machinery control systems.
Review new machinery/system designs and modifications to assess calibration impacts.
Analyze Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) system metrics where instrument calibration influences performance or maintenance outcomes.
Conduct calibration interval analyses and adjust calibration periodicities for selected instrumentation.
Review Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Alterations Equivalent to Repairs (AERs) for calibration-related considerations.
Provide technical guidance for waivers, deviations, and departures from specification requirements.
Identify new technologies and processes that reduce "time-to-cal" and lower equipment Total Ownership Cost (TOC).
Respond to high-visibility technical issues requiring rapid assessment and engineering expertise.
Support key Navy initiatives, including:
Troubled Systems Process
Maintenance Effectiveness Reviews
Engineering for Reduced Maintenance
Cumbersome Work Practices
Capital Investment for Labor
Establish technical specification requirements for SISCAL standards.
