Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, licensed, Professional Engineer to join our geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing team. This role carries independent responsibility for the technical quality, accuracy, and code compliance of geotechnical deliverables. The ideal candidate combines strong technical judgment in geotechnical design with familiarity in construction materials testing (CMT), and the ability to mentor junior staff and manage client-facing engineering work.
Duties:
• Serve as a licensed Professional Engineer, signing and sealing geotechnical reports and engineering deliverables in accordance with state licensure requirements
• Manage geotechnical engineering operations supporting residential developments, foundation recommendations, deep foundations, and helical pile systems
• Provide engineering review and oversight of construction materials testing (CMT) activities, including soils, concrete, asphalt, and special inspection services, ensuring testing results and field reports meet applicable standards (ASTM, ACI, local building codes)
• Provide technical oversight and supervision to engineering interns and field technicians, reviewing their work for accuracy and completeness
• Prepare and review geotechnical reports, proposals, engineering analyses, and client deliverables
• Perform foundation design recommendations using AutoCAD, LPile, and related geotechnical software
• Interpret subsurface data (borings, CPTs, lab test results) and develop engineering recommendations for site development
• Evaluate CMT field and lab data for compliance with project specifications and flag nonconformance issues to clients and contractors
• Collaborate directly with clients, contractors, architects, and project stakeholders throughout project lifecycles
• Support proposal development and business development activities, including scoping, technical writing, and client relationship management
• Ensure deliverables meet applicable building codes, local jurisdictional requirements, and industry standards
Education/Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering
• Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• 5-10 years of geotechnical engineering experience, including foundation design and subsurface investigation
• Experience with construction materials testing (CMT), including review of soils, concrete, and asphalt testing/special inspection reports
• Demonstrated experience with deep foundation systems and helical pile design preferred
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, LPile, and other geotechnical/foundation design software
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior engineers and field staff
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for client- and contractor-facing work
• Familiarity with residential development projects and associated regulatory/permitting processes
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail and quality control
Preferred
• Experience in proposal writing for engineering services
• Working knowledge of local building codes and geotechnical design standards in the firm's operating region
