Full Job Description
Vedder's Chicago office is seeking a Senior Financial Systems Engineer. The Senior Financial Systems Engineer is responsible for the daily technical support of critical financial and accounting systems to ensure accurate system operation, financial data integrity, and successful audits. As the functional expert on the Firm's financial systems, this role serves as the technical point of contact and partners closely with Accounting, Business Intelligence, and the Information Technology (IT) department. The role designs and documents technical solutions, system updates, workflow improvements, and makes appropriate recommendations that positively impact operational effectiveness.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical experience with a strong understanding of how systems support law firm financial processes, including billing, collections, general ledger management, and time entry.

As the Senior Financial Systems Engineer, your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Drive the administration, configuration, maintenance, and enhancement of the firm's financial management platforms. Serve as the technical lead and trusted advisor to the Accounting team
  • Oversee the technical aspects and processes of implementing new systems related to Finance and Accounting.
  • Develop, document, and execute validation plans, test scripts, and acceptance criteria for financial systems, upgrades, integrations, reports, and configuration changes.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities and coordinate validation efforts with Finance, Accounting, and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure system changes meet business requirements and comply with internal controls, audit requirements, and business objectives.
  • Document test results, defects, remediation activities, and final approvals for production deployment.
  • Provide escalated technical support to users of financial applications.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Effective written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills required to communicate with IT team members, internal customers, and vendors. Displays a customer-service attitude and a high sense of urgency in resolving technical issues.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to drive and coordinate multiple activities in a results-oriented environment.
  • Highly available and responsive to occasional after-hours issues, as the Firm operates on a 24x7 basis.

Compensation Range: $120,000/yr. to $145,000/yr
