Full Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Works under general supervision to provide responsible skilled assistance in performing financial analysis related to Research and Clinical Trials for the Department of Internal Medicine. this position requires experience with financial management of clinical trials, clinical research programs, or sponsored research, including familiarity with clinical trial agreements, sponsor payment schedules, invoicing, study reconciliation, interpreting clinical trial protocols and schedules of events for financial planning and budgeting purposes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Facilitates the financial management of clinical trials from study feasibility and startup through enrollment, reconciliation, and study closeout.
  • Maintains study-level financial tracking and ensures sponsor payments are reconciled against contractual payment terms, participant visits, procedures, milestones, and other billable study activities.
  • Invoices for applicable study milestones, pass-through expenses, administrative fees, procedures, and other contractual charges.
  • Develops and negotiates clinical trial budgets in collaboration with clinical research leadership, investigators, and sponsors/contract research organization partners.
  • Completes variety of complex monthly financial management reports and reviews all reports for errors and inconsistencies; analyzes variations in forecasts and actual performance; determines reasons for variance; develops recommendations for improvement; completes written summaries of financial data.
  • Prepares and/or supervises preparation of monthly financial reports, schedules for annual financial reports, and reports to various government agencies, ensuring conformance of such reports with applicable procedures and regulations of University of Texas System and Federal and State agencies.
  • Prepares financial models and conducts financial analyses.
  • Supports research faculty funding management within multiple IM divisions or business units, works with faculty and departmental grants specialists
  • Advises the faculty/PI on the applicable procedures and regulations of UT system for the use of funds
  • Completes more complex special projects as requested.

    4 years of progressively responsible experience in finance and/or accounting with experience in planning, forecasting, and financial analysis.

  • Completes variety of complex monthly financial management reports and reviews all reports for errors and inconsistencies; analyzes variations in forecasts and actual performance; determines reasons for variance; develops recommendations for improvement; completes written summaries of financial data.
  • Prepares and/or supervises preparation of monthly financial reports, schedules for annual financial reports, and reports to various government agencies, ensuring conformance of such reports with applicable procedures and regulations of University of Texas System and Federal and State agencies.
  • Identifies areas of poor performance, presents findings, and makes recommendations to upper management.
  • Prepares financial models and conducts financial analyses.
  • May maintain controls for policies and procedures for financial system; develops and maintains delegation of authority of various procedures, such as check requests, refunds, invoice approval, bad debt write-offs, etc.
  • Completes more complex special projects as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
