The Senior Finance Manager is a strategic finance leader responsible for overseeing financial reporting, forecasting, compensation governance, and business performance analysis for the Global Asset Management business. This role partners closely with senior leadership and department heads to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial information that supports decision-making and drives operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement and strategic initiatives.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

1. Financial Reporting, Forecasting & Annual Profit Planning
  • Support financial reporting for executive management, including performance against forecast, plan and prior periods for business line reporting packages
  • Support non-financial reporting for Global Asset Management, including reporting on sales vs non-sales FTE and daily/monthly reporting on net flows by channel for Global Asset Management
  • Support the annual profit plan and monthly forecasting processes across business units.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data collection and analysis for financial planning.
  • Recommend financial models and strategic benchmarks to improve forecasting accuracy.
  • Maintain and enhance systems to support efficient reporting processes.


2. Data Management
  • Act as stakeholder for financial and non-financial data, including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Off Balance Sheet (AUA/AUM), Net Flows and FTE - across channels, business lines and at the consolidated Global Asset Management level
  • Ensure alignment of data across various internal and external reporting, including data reported by teams outside of Global Asset Management


3. Expense Management & Governance
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting and variance analysis.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial results.
  • Investigate and explain significant transactions and variances.
  • Deep dive into allocated expenses from business lines, corporate functions and other cost centers - determining trend and drivers
  • Breakdown Asset Management expenses by business line and executive owners


4. Sensitivity Analysis and Enterprise Wide Stress Testing (EWST)
  • Lead EWST process for Asset Management and collaborate with the Global Wealth Central and Global Risk Management (GRM) teams
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the EWST model and update based on Stress Testing scenario and key market rates provided by Scotia Economics
  • Perform data integrity checks to compare the model outputs vs PPNR output from GRM team and recommend any overrides
  • Manage ad-hoc requests related to data, reporting, and modeling.


5. Strategic Projects & Business Insights
  • Provide financial insight and modeling for strategic initiatives, new products, and compensation programs.
  • Design and maintain profitability models and management reports to support decision-making.
  • Prepare periodic analysis of financial trends and business performance metrics.
  • Craft and present recommendations to senior management based on financial analytics.


6. Ad-Hoc Support
  • Respond to finance-related inquiries and support requests from internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting and analysis for senior management.

  • Experience in Asset Management or Wealth Management is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Advanced knowledge of Access database query tools
  • Advance knowledge of business related computer software specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word, and Power BI
  • Accounting related experience and advanced analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of the securities and financial services industry (ie investment funds industry)
  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
