The Senior Field Technical Leader will lead and integrate the activities of Field Applications Engineers supporting Consumer customers, including direct and matrixed contributors across relevant technical disciplines. Serving as a technical advisor to Sales leadership and an Applications leader, the role is accountable for customer success, design activity, and revenue growth across the assigned area. The position requires excellent communication, strategic thinking, and the ability to understand, aggregate, and synthesize the technical and business needs of customers and FAEs.
The leader will work across Sales, Business Units, Technology Groups, and other FAE teams to identify key opportunities, elevate the voice of the customer, establish priorities and performance expectations, and lead through changes in business plans. Success also requires a strong record of recruiting, developing, and retaining FAE talent, creating opportunities for career growth, and developing successors. The candidate should be well versed across a wide range of technologies, with exceptional expertise in an area that can benefit the broader sales team and ideally have experience working in or supporting the consumer market.
This position is based in Analog Device's San Jose office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serve as the senior technical advisor to Consumer Sales leadership, translating organizational strategy and customer priorities into coordinated goals and direction for the Applications team.
- Synthesize customers' system requirements, roadmaps, business priorities, and design challenges to distinguish critical needs from lower-priority requests and guide team investment.
- Work closely with the Business Units (BUs) to ensure the customer voice is elevated via knowledge of our customer's systems and roadmaps
- Develop and propose new product ideas to Product Lines to fill customers' needs
- Integrate the activities of FAEs, specialists, and partner teams across disciplines and geographies, using direct and matrixed leadership to align resources, remove obstacles, and deliver customer and business results.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key Product Lines' Management, Marketing, and Applications personnel
- Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of FAEs and specialist contributors, establishing clear goals, performance standards, and development plans while creating opportunities for career growth and succession.
- Guide FAEs in career and personal development
- Define and scale best practices, operating mechanisms, and performance metrics that balance short-term execution with long-term customer, design, and revenue objectives.
- Through experience and customer interactions, influence training for the field (FAEs and Sales) on relevant technology
- Lead efforts to recruit new FAEs and related technical roles
- Foster collaborative efforts within the FAE community
- Build and sustain relationships with customer technical leaders, using those relationships to understand strategic priorities, influence architecture decisions, and strengthen long-term partnerships.
- Through close collaboration with peers, specialists and BUs, ensure customers are fully supported from an Applications Engineering perspective
- Compile, understand, and disseminate latest technical developments to FAE teams
- Partner with Sales leadership to set account priorities and goals, monitor design and opportunity pipelines, improve pipeline quality, allocate technical resources, and drive customer success and revenue growth across the assigned area.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent technical discipline
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication
- 10+ years of experience in product, design, technical marketing, field applications engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline, including demonstrated success leading FAEs or specialist contributors across multiple disciplines, teams, or geographies
- Proficiency in analog circuit design at the board and system levels across a diverse range of applications
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize multiple concurrent projects effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with and influence customers, senior Sales and Business Unit leaders, peer managers, and cross-functional stakeholders, including driving decisions to closure without relying on direct authority
- Exceptional expertise in a relevant technology area that can benefit the broader sales organization
Strong understanding of ADI's sales processes and/or external sales best practices
- Established record of building and sustaining relationships with customer technical leaders
- Track record of timely hiring, talent development, retention, and succession planning.
- Ability to travel up to 20%, primarily within the United States
- U.S. citizenship is required

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $227,700 to $313,088.
- Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.
