Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the electrical design and coordination of complex semiconductor and advanced technology facilities, with a focus on cleanroom environments, fab support spaces, and mission-critical industrial infrastructure. This role is responsible for developing power distribution strategies, performing electrical load analyses, and guiding the design of low and medium voltage systems from concept through construction administration. Working closely with project managers, discipline leads, architects, and clients, this engineer will help manage technical risk, support design reviews, resolve field and vendor issues, and ensure safe, code-compliant, and highly reliable electrical solutions. The position requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and a hands-on approach to complex integrated delivery projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical engineering design process for large-scale semiconductor and advanced technology projects from conceptual planning through construction administration.
• Develop and review electrical load calculations, demand analyses, and distribution strategies for high-reliability manufacturing environments, including cleanrooms, support utilities, and mission-critical facility systems.
• Design comprehensive low voltage and medium voltage power distribution systems, including MV switchgear, substations, transformers, switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, panelboards, busway systems, and critical power pathways.
• Perform system studies and coordination efforts to support selectivity, equipment protection, arc flash hazard mitigation, and overall electrical system reliability.
• Coordinate closely with architects, designers, and engineers from our process, mechanical, structural, controls, and fire protection teams to ensure electrical systems are fully integrated into the overall facility design.
• Lead technical discussions with clients, contractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers to resolve design requirements, evaluate equipment selections, and support procurement and installation planning.
• Prepare, review, and seal engineering documents, calculations, drawings, specifications, and narratives with a high degree of quality and technical accuracy.
• Participate in design reviews, QA/QC checks, and interdisciplinary coordination milestones to identify conflicts, reduce rework, and maintain project schedule and budget objectives.
• Support vendor submittal reviews, RFIs, field observations, site walks, punch list resolution, and as-built turnover activities throughout construction.
• Contribute to change management and risk mitigation by identifying design impacts, documenting decisions, and supporting issue resolution in an integrated design-build delivery environment.
• Ensure all electrical designs comply with applicable codes, standards, owner criteria, and safety requirements, including reliability and maintainability expectations for advanced manufacturing facilities.
• Mentor and support junior and mid-level electrical engineers by providing technical guidance, design reviews, and coaching on best practices and project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice.
• Active Professional Engineering (PE) license; responsible charge of electrical design and stamping authority required.
• Demonstrated electrical engineering experience, with a preferred focus on semiconductors, advanced high-tech industrial facilities, cleanroom environments, or mission-critical building design.
• Demonstrated experience leading low and medium voltage electrical system design for complex industrial or manufacturing facilities.
• Strong working knowledge of power distribution equipment, electrical codes, system coordination, arc flash mitigation, and reliability-driven design principles.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for electrical design, documentation, and BIM coordination at large and complex industrial project scale.
• Experience supporting projects through all phases of delivery, including planning, design development, and construction administration.
• Demonstrated ability to interface with clients and contractors to define scope, lead technical discussions, and deliver electrical design solutions aligned with operational and safety requirements.
• Solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), International Fire Code (IFC), and relevant NFPA standards governing the design and installation of electrical systems in industrial facilities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams.
• Demonstrated leadership in mentoring junior engineers or leading small project teams through complex electrical design challenges.
• Salary Range: $130,000 - $180,000/year depending on location, education, depth of relevant experience. Opportunity for ample rewards, leadership incentive/bonus program, and ownership investment opportunities.
