Responsibilities
  • This position will offer you the opportunity toutilizeand expand your background in Electrical Engineering on projects that range from existingpowerplant retrofit projects,new generation installations,renewable energyprojects, new and existing oil and gas facilities, and other industrial facilities.
  • You willwork in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing powerplantand industrial plant electrical systems.
  • You will work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.
  • You will be involved in power distribution designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services needed to support the projects.
  • You willassistproject manager or other project lead in efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
  • You will coordinate systems design activities to ensureinstallationand operations willcomply withspecifications, codes, and client requirements.
  • You will prepare and review functional design drawings including singleline, relay and metering, cable block, and schematic diagrams. Prepare documentation for design input for other drawing production and 3-D modeling.
  • You will prepare and review detailed calculations, including auxiliary power system studies, voltagedrop, protective relay settings, and arc flash calculations.
  • You willinterface withvendors to prepare bills of material and equipmentpurchasespecifications and provide recommendations to the client.
  • You will prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and S&L formats.
  • You will perform independent reviews of work performed byothersincluding calculations and drawings.
  • You may provide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced engineers.
  • You will develop your career via peer-learning by way of S&Ls systems of process and associated Communities of Practice
  • You may travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.

Essential skills and experience:

  • A BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program isrequiredand an emphasis in power systems, preferred.
  • 5or more years of experience in power plant or industrial plant design, with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new facilities, or modifications or replacements for existing facilities.
  • Experience in theselectionof equipment, materials, control philosophy, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications.
  • Experience with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), communication systems, equipmentselection, and analytical calculations.
  • Experience performing calculations in ETAP and/or SKM.
  • Technicallyknowledgeable ofelectrical power distribution equipment.
  • Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
  • Experience in reviewing other engineers design calculations and drawings.

Valued but notrequiredskills and experience:

  • Construction and start-up experiencea plus.
  • AMasters degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • PE license preferred orabilityto earn a PE license isrequired.

Compensation Range$84,762.21-129,497.82 Transparency StatementSargent & Lundy discloses compensation ranges that comply with all local and state regulations.
