Preference will be given to candidates residing in the Lehi or St. George, Utah areas.
About the roleVasion is looking for a Senior Director of FP&A to lead our financial planning and analysis function and serve as the CFO's key partner in steering the business. This leader owns the company's operating plan, forecast, and long-range model, and translates SaaS performance data into clear insight for executives, the Board, and investors. You will lead a team of finance professionals, partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, Customer Success, and R&D leaders, and play a central role in strategic initiatives including M&A evaluation and integration planning. This is a high-visibility role for a hands-on strategic finance leader who is equally comfortable building a model and presenting to a Board.
What you'll do- Planning & Forecasting: Own the annual operating plan, quarterly reforecasts, and multi-year long-range plan. Run a disciplined, repeatable planning calendar and drive accountability to plan across the business.
- SaaS Metrics & ARR Modeling: Build and maintain the company's ARR, bookings, billings, retention, and churn models. Own the definitions and reporting of key SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR/GRR, CAC, LTV, payback, Rule of 40) and ensure a single source of truth.
- Board, Investor & Sponsor Reporting: Prepare Board materials, monthly and quarterly management reporting, and investor/sponsor and lender packages, including covenant and KPI tracking. Craft the financial narrative with the CFO.
- Business Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to functional leaders. Provide variance analysis, headcount and spend planning, pricing and packaging analysis, and go-to-market capacity and productivity insight to support decisions.
- M&A & Strategic Modeling: Lead financial modeling for acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments, including valuation, synergy analysis, diligence support, and post-close integration tracking.
- Team Leadership: Hire, develop, and lead a team of FP&A managers and analysts. Set a high bar for analytical rigor, accuracy, and executive-ready communication.
- Systems & Process: Drive improvements to planning tools, data pipelines, and reporting automation across the ERP, CRM, billing, and planning platforms. Partner with Accounting on close, revenue recognition, and forecast-to-actuals alignment.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Deliver rapid, high-quality analysis on pricing, capital allocation, unit economics, and scenario planning as priorities evolve.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA/CFA a plus.
- 12+ years of progressive finance experience, including 5+ years leading FP&A teams, ideally in a B2B SaaS or software company.
- Deep working knowledge of SaaS business models and metrics, including ARR waterfalls, cohort and retention analysis, and bookings-to-revenue relationships.
- Demonstrated experience preparing Board and investor reporting; experience in a PE-backed or investor-governed environment is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on M&A modeling and diligence experience, including integration planning.
- Expert-level financial modeling skills and proficiency with ERP, CRM (e.g., Salesforce), and planning tools (e.g., Adaptive, Anaplan, or similar); strong Excel and BI skills.
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders, simplify complex data, and communicate clearly in writing and presentations.
- Track record of building, coaching, and retaining high-performing teams.
What Success Looks Like- Within 90 days: a documented understanding of the planning process, ARR model, and reporting stack, with quick wins identified and strong relationships built with functional leaders.
- Within 6 months: a refined forecasting cadence with improved accuracy, and Board and investor reporting delivered on time with a consistent narrative.
- Within 12 months: a scalable FP&A operating model, a fully trusted SaaS metrics framework, and meaningful contributions to strategic and M&A decisions.
