Full Job Description
This Opportunity
The Senior D365 Project Accounting & Costing Implementation Lead will lead the design and implementation of project accounting and manufacturing costing processes within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations across Komline. This hands-on role will partner with controllers, project managers, engineering, and manufacturing teams to establish consistent budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, and percentage-of-completion (POC) processes in engineer-to-order and make-to-order manufacturing environments. As part of Komline's internal implementation team, this individual will connect manufacturing transactions with financial reporting, support ERP deployments and acquisition integrations, and help teams understand project performance through accurate costs, reliable forecasts, and repeatable project-close procedures.
Responsibilities
Lead requirements gathering and process design with controllers, project managers, engineering, and manufacturing teams; translate Finance-approved accounting policies into system requirements and controls
Configure project structures, categories, budgets, forecasts, billing, and posting rules; establish consistent project review and change-control processes
Partner with Finance to define POC and revenue-recognition requirements, including eligible costs, calculation methods, budget and forecast versions, adjustments, and reconciliation rules
Design estimate-to-complete and estimate-at-completion processes, incorporating approved forecast revisions and visibility into purchasing and production commitments without double counting
Trace material, labor, overhead, and work-in-process (WIP) costs through production orders and multilevel assemblies into project financials; identify gaps in cost detail, timing, and transaction traceability
Evaluate standard D365 capabilities, third-party solutions, and proposed extensions with the solution architect; document limitations and validate designs using realistic project scenarios
Define reporting requirements for budgets, actuals, commitments, forecasts, variances, and POC; partner with data and business intelligence resources to reconcile reports to source transactions and the general ledger
Own functional mapping and validation for open projects, budgets, forecasts, WIP, and related balances; coordinate migration execution with the data engineer and business owners
Lead testing of project and manufacturing cost flows, forecast changes, billing, and period-end scenarios; investigate variances and secure business acceptance
Train project managers and controllers on recurring cost-review, forecasting, POC, and project-close procedures
Support cutover, initial project reporting, post-go-live stabilization, and transition to ongoing support across Komline's implementation portfolio
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, manufacturing, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of Dynamics AX or D365 Finance & Operations functional experience, with substantial hands-on responsibility for project accounting and manufacturing costing
Participation in at least two full ERP implementation lifecycles, including D365 delivery in an engineer-to-order or make-to-order manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability to trace and reconcile material, labor, overhead, WIP, and project costs across production orders and multilevel assemblies
Experience translating approved POC and revenue-recognition policies into system processes, testing, controls, and reporting
Strong understanding of project budgets, actuals, commitments, forecasts, estimate to complete, and estimate at completion, including their distinct purposes
Ability to work directly with controllers and project managers and document where standard functionality, a third-party solution, or custom development is required
Experience with Signup Software Axtension or comparable project-control solutions for D365 Finance & Operations preferred
Manufacturing cost accounting or controllership experience and familiarity with Power BI and project-reporting data models preferred
Relevant Microsoft Dynamics 365 credentials or an accounting qualification preferred
Ability to travel up to 25% to Komline sites, subject to confirmation before posting
