Description
Position: Senior Construction Inspector - Bridge
Reports to: Department Manager and/or Project Manager
Technical Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections of bridges and other structures to assess conditions and compliance with applicable requirements.
- Review and verify inspection findings, reports, photographs, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure all inspection procedures and requirements established by the Client are properly implemented.
- Verify that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA requirements and that appropriate Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) measures are in place as required by the governing jurisdiction.
- Ensure all equipment, tools, and resources required to safely and effectively complete inspections are available and properly maintained.
- Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to inspection staff.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable design criteria, inspection standards, codes, and industry technologies.
- Demonstrate proficiency in engineering, drafting, inspection, and administrative software required to complete assigned projects.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Monitor personal billability and productivity to ensure compliance with established project and company goals.
- Maintain knowledge of company policies and procedures and ensure consistent implementation and compliance.
- Complete and submit daily timecards accurately and on time
- Verify that assigned staff have the appropriate project and time-charge information
Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience on bridge construction projects.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working on NJDOT projects preferred.
Education/Professional Licenses/Registrations:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- NICET certification in Highway Construction or related discipline preferred.
- TCC (Traffic Control Coordinator) certification Required.
- New Jersey Safety Alliance Training (NJSAT) Certification.
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade I.
- Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant bridge construction/inspection experience may be considered.
- Additional coursework or training in bridge inspection, structural inspection, construction management, or transportation engineering is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform field inspections at bridges and other structures, including walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, and working for extended periods in outdoor environments.
- Ability to access elevated and confined work areas using ladders, stairs, scaffolding, lifts, or other approved access equipment.
- Ability to work at heights and around active construction sites, traffic, heavy equipment, and other potential hazards while following required safety procedures.
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver inspection equipment, tools, and materials as required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and during extended field operations.
- Ability to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety vest, safety footwear, eye protection, and fall-protection equipment when required.
Salary Range:
- $45 - $55 per hour, depending on experience, engineering credentials, and technical qualifications.
