Job Description:
Role Overview
Join our compiler team and lead the design, development, and optimization of AI compiler technologies for Triton, Domain Specific Languages (DSLs), and emerging AI programming models. Our teams develop software that enables high-performance execution of AI workloads across Intel CPUs, GPUs, and accelerators, enabling developers to write highly efficient kernels that power modern machine learning frameworks and high-performance computing applications.
You will work on modern compiler infrastructures including LLVM and MLIR, driving innovations that improve performance, scalability, programmability, and portability across diverse hardware architectures. This role provides opportunities to contribute to open-source ecosystems while solving challenging problems in compiler design, code generation, optimization, runtime integration, and performance engineering.
By joining us, you'll help build the software foundations that enable developers and researchers to unlock the full potential of Intel's AI and accelerator platforms while influencing the future direction of compiler technologies for heterogeneous computing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of compiler technologies for Triton, Domain Specific Languages (DSLs), and related AI programming models.
• Drive development of advanced compiler optimizations, analyses, and transformations that improve performance, scalability, and developer productivity.
• Own significant components of the compiler stack, including front-end, optimization, code generation, runtime integration, or tooling technologies.
• Collaborate with hardware architects, compiler engineers, AI framework developers, and performance engineers to enable new platform capabilities.
• Analyze and resolve complex functional, correctness, and performance issues across the compiler stack.
• Drive technical discussions, architecture reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap and influence the direction of compiler technologies within Intel's AI software ecosystem.
• Drive and contribute to open-source compiler projects and communities including LLVM, MLIR, Triton, and related technologies.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in compilers, AI software, developer tools, and heterogeneous computing.
Qualifications:
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your degree, research and or relevant previous job and or internship experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or a related technical discipline and 5+ years of experience, OR Master's degree and 3+ years of experience, OR PhD and 0 years of experience.
Experience must include:
• Strong software development experience using C++/Python.
• Experience developing systems software, compiler technologies, developer tools, or performance-critical software.
• Understanding of compiler concepts, including parsing, intermediate representations, compiler optimizations, code generation, linking, and runtime interactions.
• Experience analyzing and optimizing software performance.
• Understanding of GPU programming models and parallel computing concepts.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and ownership of significant software projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Hands-on compiler development experience. with LLVM, MLIR, Triton, GCC, Clang, or similar compiler frameworks.
• Experience with GPU programming models such as CUDA, SYCL, OpenMP, or HIP.
• Knowledge of machine learning frameworks and AI workloads, including PyTorch and related ecosystems.
• Experience contributing to open-source compiler projects or technical communities.
• Knowledge of heterogeneous computing systems and accelerator architectures.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives across teams.
