Position SummaryThe Senior Business Operations and Risk Analyst plays a pivotal role in enabling efficient business operations while safeguarding organizational integrity. This role is responsible for proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across operational areas while providing operational support to various business functions.
The Analyst prepares data analysis dashboards, monitors key operational trends, and develops reports and presentation materials to support committees and inform strategic decision-making by the Senior Leadership Team. This role also contributes to business planning and revenue generation strategies that support long-term growth and organizational sustainability.
Key ResponsibilitiesRisk Management and Analysis- Evaluate operational and strategic risks across departments and programs to identify potential threats and opportunities.
- Assess potential impacts and develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to reduce exposure and enhance preparedness.
- Analyze data to identify emerging trends, vulnerabilities, and performance indicators that inform risk posture and operational priorities.
- Prepare dashboards, reports, executive summaries, and presentations to provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain accurate and current risk registers aligned with organizational objectives.
- Support the development and refinement of risk management and operational frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Provide recommendations to improve organizational resilience, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness.
Contract Management- Oversee the full contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, executing, and archiving agreements.
- Collaborate with Legal, Procurement, Finance, and other departments to ensure contracts meet organizational standards.
- Maintain organized records of contracts, amendments, and related documentation.
- Monitor contract performance using key indicators and ensure alignment with business plans and budgets.
- Identify contractual risks and obligations and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Support new initiatives by defining scope, developing business cases, and conducting feasibility and cost-benefit analyses.
- Develop and maintain contract databases and decision-support tools.
- Ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws and Long-Term Care regulations.
- Prepare purchase orders and procurement documents, including RFPs, in accordance with procurement policies.
- Provide regular contract-related reporting and updates to the Senior Leadership Team.
Renewals and Amendments- Track contract expiration dates and coordinate renewal and amendment processes.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to negotiate and finalize contract modifications.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Finance to ensure contractual obligations are met and issues are addressed promptly.
Privacy Management- Stay current with privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA, and ensure organizational policies align with Long-Term Care privacy requirements.
- Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams to address privacy concerns specific to Long-Term Care.
- Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for new projects, systems, and processes, with particular consideration for resident care.
- Work with project teams to integrate appropriate privacy measures that support resident care objectives.
Risk Identification and Reporting- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify hazards, vulnerabilities, and exposures within the Long-Term Care environment.
- Evaluate the likelihood and potential impact of identified risks on residents, staff, property, and operations.
- Track, monitor, and report on action plans resulting from risk and control reviews using Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) tools.
- Coordinate with departments to ensure timely and accurate risk reporting and documentation.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to incidents, accidents, near-misses, and other risk factors to identify trends, patterns, and root causes.
- Apply statistical analysis and risk modelling techniques to quantify risk exposures and assess potential organizational impact.
- Collaborate with managers and staff to identify and report risks, hazards, and compliance gaps.
- Prepare risk assessment reports, presentations, and dashboards for senior management and stakeholders.
- Document operational risk incidents, analyze root causes, and review action plans to address process or control weaknesses.
Risk Mitigation- Develop and recommend risk mitigation strategies, controls, and preventive measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement risk management policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Track, monitor, and report on action plans resulting from risk and control reviews.
Regulatory Compliance- Stay current with regulations and standards related to healthcare safety, infection control, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
- Monitor regulatory changes and conduct audits to support ongoing compliance.
- Provide guidance and support to team members and internal functions on compliance-related initiatives.
Incident Investigation and Analysis- Analyze incident data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions to address systemic issues and reduce future risk.
- Prepare summary reports and provide timely updates to the Senior Leadership Team.
Business Operations and Projects- Assist in preparing agendas, briefing notes, reports, business cases, presentations, and supporting documentation for meetings and programs, including the Finance and Audit Committee.
- Prepare and finalize meeting minutes for internal and external meetings.
- Provide administrative and coordination support to committees and leadership teams.
- Manage enterprise-wide workflows, monitor performance, and implement process improvements.
- Investigate root causes and collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend operational enhancements.
- Develop and implement standardized operational frameworks, KPIs, and reporting tools to improve efficiency and alignment.
- Use predictive analytics and performance dashboards to monitor KPIs, optimize resources, and identify trends.
- Support projects and initiatives related to Legal, Privacy, and Enterprise Risk Management.
- Support the development of business plans and revenue generation strategies to promote organizational growth and sustainability.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations.
Qualifications- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Canadian Risk Management (CRM) or Professional Risk Manager (PRM) designation is considered an asset.
- Proven experience in risk analysis, operational planning, compliance, or risk management, preferably within healthcare or Long-Term Care.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau, as well as risk management software.
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, statistical techniques, and risk modelling tools.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to healthcare safety, infection control, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prepare briefing notes and collaborate effectively across departments.

CompensationSalary Range: $78,000 - $92,000
