About the TeamAt Workday, our FinOps organization is doing far more than just managing cloud spend - we are engineering the future of cloud economics. As we expand our impact across Workday's multi-cloud ecosystem on AWS and GCP, our team leverages a cutting-edge stack that includes agentic AI tools and sophisticated machine learning models to automate planning, precision forecasting, and cost optimization at a massive enterprise scale.
About the RoleAs a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you will operate as a strategic partner to finance and engineering leadership, architecting the next generation of cost governance and forecasting models across AWS and GCP. Our billing datasets run to billions of rows a day, so the ability to handle data at scale is key. You need to be equally fluent in finance fundamentals (pricing, cost modeling, forecasting) and in querying and reasoning about massive, granular billing data.
You will bring an
agent-first mentality to everything you build: before designing any new process, workflow, or reporting mechanism, you will default to asking "can an AI agent own this end-to-end?" - and design accordingly. You will own the deployment and continuous refinement of agentic AI tools that autonomously monitor spend, flag anomalies, and execute cost-optimization actions at enterprise scale, and you will architect the governance frameworks that let those agents operate safely and independently. This role carries a mentoring and thought-leadership component, guiding junior and mid-level analysts, and representing FinOps in cross-organizational initiatives.
About YouBasic Qualifications- 6+ years' experience defining, designing, and implementing solutions to achieve desired business outcomes by evaluating, diagnosing, and evolving business processes and software technologies, and applying advanced metrics for evaluating economic success in the public cloud
- Proven ability to work with large-scale billing/usage datasets (billions of rows daily) - strong SQL skills and comfort querying and modeling at that scale are essential; this is not a spreadsheet-first FP&A role
- 3+ years of experience analyzing or operating software systems in one or more public cloud service providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including at least one year leading or mentoring other analysts
- Demonstrated experience designing and deploying agentic AI tools or workflows as the primary mechanism for solving business problems, not as a bolt-on to existing manual processes
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-scale initiatives with measurable financial impact
Bonus Qualifications- Direct experience working at a hyperscale cloud provider (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Prior experience specifically in a FinOps role or function
- Hands-on experience building or deploying AI agents (not just using AI tools)
- Background in pricing strategy and cost optimization at scale
Other Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; advanced degree (MBA or similar) a plus
- Proficiency in SQL and large-scale data querying/analysis; familiarity with BI/visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau, in addition to Excel/Google Sheets
- Exceptional written, visual representation, and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership
- Six Sigma certification or equivalent process-excellence credential highly desirable
- Proven ability to influence without authority at the executive level and drive alignment across teams with varied strengths, functions, and leadership levels
- Strong track record of mentoring junior team members and elevating team-wide practices
- Comfortable operating with high autonomy in ambiguous, fast-changing environments

Our Approach to Flexible WorkWith Flex Work, we're combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply
spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
