JOB TITLE:

Senior Associate Strategic Analysis Energy Finance

$106,184 - $110,759

This position is eligible for teleworking, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective hire date.

Position Objective:

The position will support the Senior Director of Energy Finance in pursuing and actively managing day-to-day activities on multiple initiatives, including participation in negotiating favorable service terms with NYPA. This position will also assist the Energy Finance team in analyzing energy data and finding solutions to lower energy costs. In addition, the position will conduct modeling and analytical work in support of other MTA strategic energy initiatives, such as Bus Electrification.

Responsibilities:
  • Research and gain expertise in energy-related topics or business areas for a given project, critically dissect the business strategy, and develop and conduct insightful analyses to support decision-making.
  • Assist in producing statistical analyses of MTA performance data, including predictive modeling and econometric analysis, to support proactive "what-if" analysis that is the precursor to change management.
  • Use analytical skills and good judgment to investigate complex issues and identify opportunities, carry out research and data collection, form hypotheses, design and conduct analyses, synthesize conclusions into recommendations, and prepare presentations and proposals for the senior director that make a clear case for transformation.
  • Solve problems with various levels of available information or gather information through internal and external contacts and develop metric-driven analysis and peer comparisons.
  • Structure and conduct business case analysis for strategic transactions in the area of energy management, including those facilitating innovation and change.
  • Ensure alignment and integration with other business and operational activities.
  • Serve as an in-house consultant to MTAHQ and agency clients in the area of energy management and work collaboratively with other MTAHQ and Agency stakeholders and third-party consultants.
  • Support MTAHQ and agency staff in aligning with key energy initiatives that impact their respective work environments.
  • Assists with projects/tasks assigned to the unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, together with demonstrated quantitative skills, proficiency in Excel modeling, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the talent to communicate complex quantitative concepts clearly and succinctly to internal stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an established history of working on projects requiring group consensus and cooperation among people with no direct reporting relationships.
  • Must be capable of building a strong and successful network, developing new relationships and influencing decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in team and/or group settings, including gathering data from various stakeholders and interviewing stakeholders in a team or individual setting.
  • Ability to prioritize among competing needs and opportunities and manage multiple projects at the same time, including mundane project management administrative tasks.


Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Mathematics or Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 4 years progressively responsible work experience
