Senior Associate, Seafood Procurement

This position is located in Reston, VA
This position is not remote work

PURPOSE -

  • Under the direction of the Manager, Seafood Procurement, this position will help to plan and manage the purchase of raw seafood and seafood products to ensure that price, quality, quantity and delivery schedules contribute effectively to company profit and growth objectives.
  • This position will be responsible for the coordinating of vessel schedules for unloading, sizing of fish to support daily plant activity and company objectives. Position will also manage communications between the plants and fish suppliers, in regards to downgrades, rejects and all quality issues.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES -

  • Evaluate current and potential suppliers of raw material and finished products.
  • Communicate and build relationships with boat owners and their operational teams on a regular basis.
  • Support the Fish Procurement Team with daily responsibilities.
  • Develop insight regarding the fundamental supply, demand, competitive and regulatory factors of affecting various markets.
  • Analyze factors which can affect both the supply and demand side as well as keep updating any regulatory factors that can affect into various markets.
  • Define problems, identify alternative solutions and take appropriate action.
  • Treat all prices and technical information submitted by suppliers as confidential in order to preserve a good business reputation and obtain competitive prices.
  • Provide support for inventory management of purchased goods to meet the usage requirements of the company at the lowest possible cost.

  • Manage relations with suppliers.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and systems to enhance the purchasing function.
  • Provide market intelligence on an ongoing basis and present strategies/tactics/plans/financial updates to senior leadership as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with plant management teams and staff to support plant and company production plans.
  • Coordinate and compile payment information for raw seafood to suppliers.


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES-What degrees or courses are required for this job? What type of and how much prior experience is required to do this job? List specific competencies required for this job.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in consumer goods purchasing or manufacturing (preferably seafood experience)
  • Bilingual English/Mandarin/Chinese is required
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities dealing with the complexities of multi-cultural and multi-national workforce in fluid and diverse geographic locations
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Prior experience working with an ERP system
  • Demonstrated communication skills in situations requiring tact, negotiation, and influence where direct control is not possible
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time - including international travel


The approximate pay range for this position is $72K to $92K. This range is provided as a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
