Purpose of Position *
Responsible for leading recurring network optimization, planning, and analytical activities across the North American ASU, CO2 and LH2 supply networks. The Sr. Analyst will normally support one product line (ASU), but the analyst will support the other product lines with some regularity. This position works closely with other members of the Supply Chain Planning team, as well as the ROC, Energy, GOLD team, CTM, and field operations to ensure accurate inputs (current data and forecast) are available to feed and run the Optimization software. Additionally, the position transforms demand, sourcing, production, energy, purchasing, and transportation data into actionable recommendations that improve service, asset utilization, resource planning, and reduce total delivered cost.
Principal Responsibilities *
Network Optimization and Scenario Modeling
• Centrally lead the North American ASU, LH2 and/or CO2 network coordination using Messer's Optimization tool.
• Maintain optimization models by updating the forecast process for energy, demand (delivered liquid, FOB liquid, and both liquid/gas tonnage), production, feedgas, distribution resource, rail deliveries, rail loading and purchasing; resolve any issues with providing forecast to the optimization tool
• Coordinate meetings to execute appropriate changes in the Messer network - customer assignments, production levels, expected inventory levels; analyze why some changes are not deemed appropriate and provide feedback to SCP team for any improvements.
• Maintain and improve customer clustering tool by identifying issues with clustering relative to actual trips executed
• Identify a) consistent binding constraints within the network and b) execution gaps in the daily optimization plan; communicate to ASU and CO2 Supply Chain Planning Managers, as well as Distribution Planning Managers, to help them improve our supply network. Perform "what if" analysis to analyze different scenarios for changes to our network
• Back up Sr. Analyst Supply Chain Optimization in their role
Performance Monitoring and Decision Support
• Proactively monitor trucking activity, delivered volumes, FOB demand, and product purchases. Investigate material variances and identify emerging trends
• Identify forecast errors in the many forecasts needed to execute network optimization; work with appropriate party to improve forecasts
• Contribute to achievement of cost targets/KPI's
Change management of customer distribution location changes Systems, Data Management
• Support Supply Chain Planning Managers and Scheduling teams by maintaining demand-related inputs for allocation tracking process, including historical baselines, customer lists, and virtual inventory calculations
• Support the effective use of Arkieva's demand planning software and identify opportunities for improved system functionality
• Maintain and support demand forecasting, network optimization, reporting, and scheduling systems, including Arkieva Demand Planner, TBOO, Optimizer, GOLD, BOLT, and Teltank.
• Integrate data from multiple systems into clear management reports and decision-support materials
• Evaluate process inputs, outputs, and workflows to identify automation opportunities that improve processing speed, data accuracy, and overall efficiency.
Required Skills & Capabilities
• Analyze changes in supply networks and translate findings into actionable recommendations
• Apply sound analytical judgment to reconcile conflicting inputs, validate assumptions, and communicate reliable conclusions
• Learn and apply new analytical tools, models, and business processes with limited supervision
• Prioritize recurring and ad-hoc deliverables in a deadline-driven environment while managing competing business needs
• Communicate assumptions, risk, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to cross-functional stakeholders
• Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, working knowledge of enterprise reporting, forecasting, optimization, and customer relationship management systems
• Demonstrate strong analytical and programming skills using Python and libraries such as pandas and NumPy in Visual Studio Code and Jupyter environments
• Demonstrate strong SQL skills
