Job Profile Summary
As a Senior Analyst in Cloud Computing Engineering, you will build, administer, and support Scotts Miracle-Gro’s cloud and server infrastructure. Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is our primary platform, and this role places special focus on GCP Identity and Access Management (IAM).
You will bring strong Linux administration and solid Windows Server skills, along with scripting, Kubernetes/Helm, and monitoring experience. You will work closely with the Infrastructure team, application teams, and Information Security, and report to the Director, Infrastructure Operations & Services.
In this role you will:
- GCP Engineering & Operations: Build, configure, and support GCP infrastructure — Compute Engine, GKE, VPC networking, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and load balancing — including changes, deployments, and break/fix work.
- GCP Identity & Access Management: Administer GCP IAM across the organization, folder, and project levels — roles, custom roles, service accounts, groups, organization policies, and access reviews — using least-privilege principles.
- Linux & Windows Administration: Patch and harden Linux servers, maintain scripts and cron jobs, manage users and passwords through Active Directory (Centrify), support NFS and CIFS/NFS interoperability, and lead in-depth Linux troubleshooting. Provide Windows Server administration support.
- Containers & Automation: Deploy and support workloads on Kubernetes using Helm, automate server builds and configuration with Ansible and Terraform, and write Bash and Python scripts.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting, track infrastructure and application performance, and lead troubleshooting of performance issues.
- Security & Compliance: Apply cloud and server security best practices and support audit and compliance requirements with Information Security.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze cloud resource usage and costs and recommend savings.
- Documentation & Collaboration: Maintain documentation and runbooks, and work with application teams, database administrators, and other Infrastructure teams on projects and incidents.
What you’ll need to be successful:
Required
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience (bachelor’s preferred).
- 4–7 years of infrastructure, systems administration, or cloud engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience supporting production workloads in Google Cloud Platform.
- Practical experience managing GCP IAM — roles, service accounts, groups, and organization policies.
- Moderate or better Linux administration skills: patching, scripting and cron, security hardening, Active Directory integration (Centrify or similar), NFS/CIFS, and strong troubleshooting.
- Moderate or better Windows Server administration skills.
- Bash and/or Python scripting experience.
- Experience deploying and supporting applications on Kubernetes with Helm.
- Experience with at least one enterprise monitoring tool (e.g., Datadog, Cloud Monitoring, CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana).
- Some experience supporting Oracle or another database platform.
- Working knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3).
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical partners.

- Datadog experience.
- Server automation with Ansible.
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Amazon EKS and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) experience.
