Full Job Description
Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and team-oriented Security Engineer to join our credit union. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our systems operate securely and with the highest availability, while also ensuring regulatory compliance. You will work closely with other IT professionals to protect our network and data from threats, implement security measures, and respond to security incidents.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement security protocols to protect banking systems and data.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption technologies.
  • Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and respond to security breaches.
  • Provide guidance on security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Anticipate security alerts, incidents and disasters and reduce their likelihood.
  • Analyze and respond to security events to determine their root cause, including on-call rotation, and after-hours support when appropriate.
  • Recommend and install appropriate tools and countermeasures.
  • Define, implement, and maintain corporate security policies.
  • Train fellow employees in security awareness and procedures.
  • Coordinate security plans with outside vendors.
  • Works with IT Management on annual security budget.


REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent


Experience:

  • At least 5 years' experience in IT Security discipline, preferably within a financial institution or credit union.


Certifications:

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) are preferred.


Additional Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment.
