The Scientist will have profound research experience in molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and/or protein sciences applied in the context of drug discovery and biological characterization of novel targets. The Scientist will develop and implement scientific research in the laboratory as well as collaborate with cross-functional groups to support target assessment/validation and drug discovery activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform the full spectrum of laboratory activities and independently develop, troubleshoot, and optimize cell-based and biochemical assays in support of target validation, drug discovery, and development efforts
Independently identify, develop, and implement methods for the characterization of novel drug targets and their biology.
Independently develop proposals and implement assays for assessment of potency, target engagement, and mechanism of action of novel compounds using multiple techniques (e.g., recombinant DNA techniques, RNA purification, Western, PCR, RT-qPCR, protein extraction/purification, IP, flow cytometry, plate-based endpoints).
Maintain laboratory records and notebook, organize and compile data, and write and present comprehensive reports on results.
Facilitate interactions with internal groups and external partners/CROs relevant to experimental projects.
Handle laboratory workflows and participate in project/timeline management.
Mentor and assist junior team members.
