About the Project:

Position Overview:

TRP has a current vacancy for a SCADA & DWRR Design Lead that will be responsible for leading, overseeing, and managing the design, integration, interface, and delivery activities associated with the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Distributed Wireless Radio Relay (DWRR) systems for the project. The role ensures that all SCADA and DWRR design deliverables are developed, reviewed, and implemented in compliance with project requirements, technical standards, safety objectives, and schedule commitments. The Design Lead provides technical leadership to designers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful integration of the SCADA and DWRR systems throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordination and Supervision of Design and Interface Deliverables
  • Lead, supervise, review, and control all SCADA & DWRR design and interface deliverables produced by the Designer and subcontractors.
  • Lead, coordinate, and chair meetings with designers, technical advisors, suppliers, subcontractors, and third-party technical experts.
  • Monitor and ensure all deliverables are submitted in compliance with project schedules and contractual requirements.
  • Review and approve the completeness, safety, reliability, integration, maintainability, and constructability of SCADA & DWRR design and interface deliverables.
  • Establish design priorities and coordinate technical activities across project stakeholders.


Design Coordination and Integration
  • Lead the review of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs and interface documentation related to SCADA & DWRR systems.
  • Direct design integration activities between SCADA & DWRR systems and associated disciplines including Communications, Traction Power, Signaling, Civil, Architectural, and MEP systems.
  • Review design packages from a constructability perspective, ensuring all required installation, routing, power, networking, integration, and commissioning details are incorporated.
  • Oversee subcontractor design activities and technical reviews of shop drawing documentation.
  • Ensure all SCADA input/output signals, interfaces, and integration requirements are defined, validated, and approved.


Subcontractor & Interface Management
  • Lead technical coordination activities with subcontractors, suppliers, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Manage, track, and close out all CRR comments in coordination with the Contracting Authority (CA) and third-party reviewers.
  • Direct the resolution of technical interface issues and design conflicts.
  • Ensure interface requirements are documented, maintained, and implemented throughout the project lifecycle.


Review and Approval Process
  • Resolve complex technical conflicts at interfaces between systems, civil, architectural, structural, and operational assets.
  • Review and approve Requests for Information (RFIs), Design Change Notices (DCNs), and Field Change Notices (FCNs) related to SCADA & DWRR systems.
  • Direct technical reviews of subcontractor shop drawings, product data sheets, software releases, and integration documentation.
  • Support design approvals and stakeholder acceptance processes.


Reporting Preparation
  • Prepare and present regular design and interface status reports.
  • Communicate design progress, technical risks, decisions, actions, and issue resolution status to project leadership.
  • Maintain records of design reviews, technical decisions, interface agreements, and approvals.


Risk Management
  • Identify technical, integration, and interface-related risks and opportunities.
  • Coordinate mitigation strategies with project teams and risk management personnel.
  • Escalate unresolved issues that may impact scope, schedule, budget, safety, performance, or operational readiness.


Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience working in projects/activities related to SCADA & DWRR systems design in railway or major infrastructure projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of SCADA & DWRR systems design, integration, and implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of interface management, systems engineering, V-lifecycle, requirements management, verification and validation, and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS or DOORS NG to trace contract mandates down to the design evidence.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with CAD and Bluebeam.
  • Strong technical leadership and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
