Tetra Tech AMT is looking for a Satellite Systems Engineer or Satellite Communications Engineer to provide support for acquisition of a Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) transponder and associated ground uplink equipment.
Primary job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop satellite payload and ground radio frequency uplink requirements
- Assess satellite payload and ground radio frequency uplink test reports for compliance with requirements and FAA standards
- Analyze ground-to-satellite and satellite-to-ground link budgets
- Assess interference and support coordination in an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) coordination sense.
- Apply software, hardware, and standards knowledge in the analysis, specification, development, integration, and acquisition of systems
- The candidate must be comfortable communicating directly with the customer
- The candidate must work well within a team environment and have excellent collaborative skills
- Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the systems engineering processes or scientific work
- Perform trade studies and address complex features such as conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements
- Generation of technical report, white papers, presentations and other documents
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Communications Engineering, Physics or related discipline
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in system engineering and/or satellite engineering in the aerospace or related industry
- Familiarity with satellite communications, Ground Earth Stations and Satellite operations
- Experience communicating directly with the customer
- Experience collaborating and working within a team environment
- Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel
- The ability to obtain a Public Trust (SF-85P)
The successful candidate should have:
- Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Communication Engineering Physics or related discipline (may substitute for 2-years of relevant experience
- Experience working on federal contracts
- Knowledge of GPS systems and WAAS
- Experience with management of research and development activities
- Familiarity with aviation navigation systems
Salary: $150,000 to $180,000 annually. Compensation is based on relevant experience and qualifications.
