DescriptionThe Safety Manager is responsible for managing and monitoring facility safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements. This position supports the Corporate Safety Department by conducting inspections, identifying and addressing unsafe conditions, delivering safety training, and promoting proactive safety practices throughout the facility.
Functions of the Position:- Conducts daily facility walk-throughs of all buildings to identify potential safety hazards and completes required compliance audits.
- Maintains and stocks facility first aid kits and ensures first aid logs are accurate and up to date.
- Partners with the Corporate Safety team to address safety concerns and issues requiring immediate attention.
- Leads the facility Safety Committee and coordinates related meetings, activities, and safety initiatives.
- Conducts initial and recurring forklift training, including classroom instruction and proficiency testing.
- Maintains safety communication boards, required postings, and other safety-related communications.
- Prepares safety reports and tracks key safety metrics for the Corporate Safety Department.
- Maintains the SDS Online system and ensures chemical safety information and documentation remain current and accurate.
- Conducts employee safety training and promotes corporate safety programs and initiatives at the facility level.
- Monitors workers' compensation claims and associated costs.
- Coordinates medical treatment and return-to-work activities to help reduce workers' compensation costs and employee absenteeism.
- Partners with supervisors and managers to conduct accident and incident investigations and assists with completing required documentation.
Education, Experience, and Knowledge:- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Safety, Occupational Health, Behavioral-Based Safety, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in safety or a related discipline.
- Experience developing and/or delivering safety training programs and identifying and preventing unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety requirements.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification preferred.
Skills and Competencies:- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and hourly employees.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
The starting salary range for this position is $89,406-$122,933. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for performance-based incentives subject to the terms of the underlying plan.
