DescriptionThe Assistant Quality Systems Manager supports the management, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality and food safety programs at the Bainbridge facility. This role assists with policy development, regulatory compliance, and the investigation and support of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). In partnership with the Quality Systems Manager, the Assistant Quality Systems Manager provides leadership and guidance to ensure adherence to quality standards, food safety requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Functions of the Position:- Directs and delegates work to Quality Supervisor(s). Responsible for team performance evaluations, and coaching or counseling as needed.
- Develops, implements, and maintains quality and food safety related policies and training for quality and cross functional teams.
- Ensures food safety plans are maintained, verified, validated, kept current, and CCP's, PC's, and prerequisite programs are monitored, verified, and validated as required by the plan.
- Ensures protocol is followed for validating prerequisite programs and critical food safety and food quality limits are developed, implemented, and maintained per SQF practitioner guidelines,
- Participates in and may lead SQF and customer audits.
Education, Experience, and Knowledge- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related scientific discipline required.
- Minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience managing quality operations within a food manufacturing environment required.
- Working knowledge of food safety regulations, quality systems, HACCP, GMPs, and food manufacturing best practices.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations- Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification required.
- Certified SQF Practitioner required.
Skills and Competencies- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience working in both food manufacturing/operations and quality control laboratory environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio.
- Ability to effectively serve as a customer advocate while balancing customer expectations with company objectives.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to interact professionally and confidently with customers, suppliers, auditors, and senior leadership.
- Excellent problem-solving, investigative, and root cause analysis skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to travel up to 5% as business needs require.
The starting salary range for this position is $71,479-$98,284. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for performance-based incentives subject to the terms of the underlying plan.
