DescriptionThe Safety, Environmental and Mission Assurance (SEMA) Senior Manager implements the SIMO Safety, Health and Quality Assurance (QA) Program, Emergency Response Procedures, and Environmental Policy, including Energy and Water Conservation directives. The SEMA Senior Manager is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with NASA and OSHA regulations and protect employees from hazards. Ensures a strong safety culture throughout the workforce, including managers at all levels; manages the continuous improvement program; supports NASA VPP Star Status, and ensures the Safety Program is maintained.
Responsibilities
- Ensures employees follow health and safety regulations and supervises operations to promote the wellbeing of the SIMO Team.
- Oversees safety training for employees on policies, regulations and procedures.
- Advises the SIMO administrative team on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations.
- Inspects and verifies company compliance with relevant safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines.
- Analyze incident reports, metrics and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer environment.
- Perform assessments on Reliability and QA implementation.
- Manage the day-to-day operation of a segment of the organization or functional area of the contract and may assist in program management responsibilities.
- Duties and responsibilities include formulating and enforcing work standards, managing daily operations, establishing policies and work rules, monitoring activities, and planning the use of materials and resources.
- Responsible for personnel productivity, performance, and safety.
- Verify LCAT compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental, industrial, safety and health, or related field. The degree may be substituted with the following: A high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years experience.
- In-depth knowledge of NASA, OSHA, and EPA standards.
- 15+ years of related operational/industrial safety experience in heavy infrastructure.
- 6 years in a lead or supervisor role. Note: This is in addition to the minimum experience requirement.
- OSHA 30 Certified, Emergency Medical Training, ICS certifications.
- Proven hurricane and disaster preparation and response.
- Proven people-first/safety-first mindset.
- Proven ability to create open and collaborative safety environment free of fear and intimidation.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Desired Qualification:
- Additional certifications such as PMP, Certified Facility Manager from IFMA, or ICS
