Salary: $99,000 - $143,000 per yearPlease note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline only, reflecting a position based in PA. Your Challenge: - Design and analyze fluid film and rolling element thrust and radial bearings
- Apply rotor dynamic and bearing engineering principles using hand calculations for sizing, assessments, verification, design support, troubleshooting, and in-service issues
- Use specialized codes for advanced rotor dynamic and bearing analysis, including non-linear and transient analysis methods
- Perform data analysis for product testing, including rotor dynamic behavior and bearing performance, and test-to-calculation validation Develop, update and evaluate software tools for bearing and rotor dynamic analysis
- Propose, develop, and design rotor dynamic and bearing testing (full scale, sub scale, or mockup),including design of test program, equipment setup/test rig design, instrumentation selection, and test procedure development
- Effective composition and documentation skills, including formal design documentation, patents, technical papers, and articles
- Make effective technical presentations for internal and external customers
- Provide task-based cost estimates, scopes of work and engineering schedules of high fidelity for the individual job function
- Work effectively in cross-functional teams to design, analyze, build and test critical function rotating electric machines.
- Perform analysis and test projects to achieve technical, cost, quality and risk-reduction objectives
- Understand customer perspectives and inputs and take appropriate responsive actions
- Support and participate in design review activities
- Perform work in accordance with departmental procedures and instructions, CW policies, and safety, environmental, and security rules and guidelines
What You Bring: - Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
- Masters in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- Advanced degree (PhD) is highly desirable
- Prior work and/or research and development experience of 10 or more years in rotor dynamics and/or fluid bearing design field
- MS Office
- Bearing design and analysis tools
- DyRoBeS, XLROTOR, or other rotor dynamic analysis tools
