Full Job Description
Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Roadway Engineer to join our Richmond office in Fall 2026, or Spring/Summer 2027. As part of the Transportation Group, the Roadway Engineer will be a member of an integrated design team, and will be responsible for developing project designs, plans, quantities, cost estimates and specifications while working directly under licensed Engineers. Projects will include DOT highway design, county/city roadway improvements, bike paths, pedestrian walkways, heavy rail and other transportation related projects. Position will also be part of national workshare and may have the opportunity to work on projects outside the local/state markets.

  • Learn and apply established principles and practices of civil engineering
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties and to work as a team
  • Design and preparation of documents for:
    • Minor and major roadway
    • Sidewalks
    • Shoulder improvements
    • Drainage design projects
  • Duties include assisting a project manager with tasks associated with:
    • Plan preparation
    • Cost estimates
    • Report writing
    • Client coordination
    • Permitting

Qualifications:

Working conditions:

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.

Base Salary Range:

$38.00 to $49.00 per hour based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting the required qualifications in the job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Virginia market.
