Our Behavioral Health services at UAB St. Vincent's East include 80 beds for adult and geriatric patients with acute and chronic mental health needs. What You Will DoThe RN Manager Behavioral Health role leads and oversees the clinical and operational aspects of the
behavioral health department, ensuring quality care, staff development, and adherence to
regulations. This role may involve direct patient care, particularly in a crisis or high-risk setting, and
focuses on providing a safe and effective environment for patients and staff.
1. Manage and supervise a team of behavioral health professionals, including nursing, therapists,
counselors, and mental health technicians. Develop and implement behavioral health programs,
ensuring they align with organizational goals and patient needs. Ensures compliance with
regulatory and accreditation requirements for self and within the unit(s).
2. Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services for the assigned unit(s).
3. Develops and implements policies and procedures to guarantee efficient and effective delivery of
health services in the unit(s).
4. Develops and maintains quality monitoring systems for the assigned unit(s).
5. Manage budgets, schedules, and other operational aspects of the department. Monitors and
adheres to budget. Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases and other actions to ensure
compliance with budget guidelines.
6. Ensures a high level of associate, patient and physician satisfaction.
7. Conducts hiring, training, directing, counseling, development and evaluating of staff. Collaborate
with other healthcare providers, community agencies, and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive
patient care.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Will NeedLicenses / Certifications / Registrations- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart
Association or American Red Cross accepted. - Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing
required.
Education: - Graduate of an accredited Nursing program AND professional licensure/certification required.
- 3 (Three) years of experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience required.
