Description
The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of radiopharmaceutical sciences, with an emphasis on radiochemistry, molecular imaging, and/or targeted radionuclide therapy. Candidates should have substantial research experience in the development and evaluation of diagnostic or therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, including relevant chemical, biological, or translational approaches. Preferred qualifications include 5+ years of relevant postdoctoral, academic, or equivalent research experience in radiopharmaceutical sciences, radiochemistry, molecular imaging, or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate an established record of scholarly productivity, scientific independence, and success in obtaining extramural research funding or leading major funded research initiatives. Experience directing multidisciplinary research programs, mentoring trainees, and advancing radiopharmaceutical technologies toward preclinical or clinical applications is highly desirable. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include leading an innovative research program focused on the discovery, development, and translation of radiopharmaceuticals for imaging and therapy. Areas of particular interest include radiometal chemistry, radiolabeling methodologies, targeted radionuclide therapy, and the development of novel radiopharmaceutical agents for cancer and other diseases. Research activities may encompass radiopharmaceutical design and synthesis, preclinical imaging and therapy studies, pharmacokinetic and biodistribution evaluations, dosimetry, and translational studies supporting clinical development.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a productive, externally funded research program, provide scientific leadership, and establish and strengthen collaborative research initiatives across radiology, nuclear medicine, oncology, chemistry, engineering, and other biomedical disciplines. The candidate will also be expected to mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior investigators, contribute to graduate and postgraduate education, and participate in departmental, institutional, and professional service.
The position offers the opportunity to lead and expand research initiatives within a multidisciplinary environment with established capabilities in radiochemistry, molecular imaging, and translational radiopharmaceutical development, including targeted radionuclide therapy. The successful candidate will contribute to the strategic growth of radiopharmaceutical sciences and the advancement of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches at the University of Pennsylvania.
