Position SummaryQnity is seeking a
Reliability & Maintenance Engineer. This position is responsible for enhancing equipment reliability, increasing maintenance effectiveness, and supporting Mechanical Integrity & Quality Assurance (MIQA) programs for process safety-critical assets. This role partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Manufacturing Technology teams to reduce downtime, optimize maintenance strategies, improve asset performance, and ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
The position serves as a key technical resource for reliability improvement, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives that support safe and efficient manufacturing operations.
This role is 100% onsite in our
Parlin, New Jersey facility. Candidates currently living within a daily commutable distance to this location will be given priority.

What You'll Do- Drive asset reliability initiatives by improving equipment uptime, maintainability, and overall performance.
- Develop and optimize preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs utilizing reliability tools and technologies.
- Monitor and improve key reliability metrics including OEE, MTBF, and MTTR.
- Lead root cause analyses for critical equipment failures and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Support troubleshooting and performance improvement of mechanical, electrical, controls, and automation systems.
- Identify and eliminate chronic equipment issues through bad actor analysis and reliability improvement strategies.
- Partner with maintenance and operations teams to improve maintenance planning, execution, and work management processes.
- Support capital projects by ensuring equipment is designed for reliability, maintainability, and inspectability.
- Lead or support Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance (MIQA) activities for process safety-critical equipment.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), incident investigations, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
- Develop reliability dashboards, performance metrics, and technical documentation while providing coaching and mentorship across the organization.
What We're Looking ForMinimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, manufacturing, or Mechanical Integrity programs.
- Strong knowledge of reliability methodologies including Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and predictive maintenance technologies.
- Experience with CMMS platforms such as SAP PM, Meridium, MaintainX, or similar systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering analysis tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple functions.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in petrochemical, specialty chemical, oil & gas, or other high-hazard manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), Mechanical Integrity (MI), and Quality Assurance (QA) programs.
- Understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements, RAGAGEP, and process safety best practices.
- Experience with Maintenance Work Management Processes and asset lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and risk mitigation methodologies.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience using Power BI or similar data analytics and visualization tools.
- Demonstrated success leading reliability improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
