About the Role

We are seeking a Risk Engineering Advisor to join American Global’s Risk Engineering Services team in the New York/New Jersey area.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to construction clients, providing practical expertise in risk management, safety, and loss control. You will work closely with clients, insurance carriers, and internal teams to identify exposures, strengthen safety programs, improve operational performance, and develop solutions that help protect people, projects, and businesses.

The ideal candidate brings strong construction industry knowledge, a consultative approach, and a genuine interest in building relationships and helping clients create safer, more productive workplaces.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Develop customized risk management, safety, and loss control programs based on client needs.

  • Conduct construction site assessments and provide clear, practical recommendations to reduce risk and improve performance.

  • Deliver safety training, educational seminars, toolbox talks, and presentations for clients, prospects, and colleagues.

  • Coordinate and support Construction Safety Week and other client safety initiatives.

  • Partner with clients to strengthen safety culture, regulatory compliance, and operational practices.

  • Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, insurance carriers, service providers, and other industry partners.

  • Identify and manage vendor resources that enhance safety, claims, and loss control services.

  • Stay current on emerging construction risks, regulations and industry best practices.

As You Grow in the Role

  • Serve as a thought leader by identifying industry trends and introducing innovative risk management solutions.

  • Represent American Global at industry conferences, association meetings, networking events, and client functions.

  • Support business development and prospect meetings by demonstrating American Globals Risk Engineering capabilities and value.

  • Help expand existing client relationships and build connections throughout the construction and insurance communities.

  • Collaborate internally to develop creative, customized solutions for clients.

  • Contribute to the continued evolution of our processes, services, and best practices.

Skills & Experience That Lead to Success

  • 5+ years of experience in construction, safety, risk engineering, loss control, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of construction operations, jobsite safety, and risk management principles.

  • Knowledge of property and casualty insurance and loss control practices.

  • Experience conducting risk assessments and developing practical safety solutions.

  • Strong client relationship, communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Strong organizational, project management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Collaborative, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently in the field.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional/Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.

  • Professional certifications (CSP, ASP, GSP, CHST, ARM, CRIS, OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 510)

  • Experience working with commercial construction contractors and insurance carriers.

  • Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel as needed.

  • Ability to maintain any required insurance licensing and continuing education requirements.

  • Mental Health First Aid certification.

Physical Requirements

This position includes regular visits to active construction sites. Candidates should be comfortable walking uneven terrain, navigating stairs and ladders when appropriate, wearing required PPE, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
