Qualifications

• Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two-year diploma program.
• Current Registered Practical Nurse registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year acute surgical experience preferred.
• Demonstrated competency in intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy, blood transfusion, wound care, and medication administration.
• Knowledge of assessment and management of patients with continuous peripheral nerve block and patient controlled analgesia.
• Basic computer skills; Meditech experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and support to patients in the Surgical Inpatient Unit.
• Collaborate with a healthcare team to deliver comprehensive patient care.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Educate patients on health practices and post-operative care.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, reporting any changes to the medical team.
• Assist in procedures and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and records.
