Responsibilities

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Perform and teach prescribed MRI examinations with a high level of attention to detail and demonstrate strong understanding of pediatric anatomy, physiology, and developmental stages while following established protocols and safety standards and without supervision.  

  • Adhere to and teach strict MRI safety guidelines, including screening patients, families, and staff for MRI contraindications or conditions. 

  • Work closely with Radiologists to develop and operationalize scanning protocols for both patients and research projects. 

  • Communicate procedures clearly and compassionately to patients and families to manage anxious or uncooperative pediatric patients with empathy and professionalism. 

  • Prepare and position patients ranging from neonates to young adults appropriately using patient/family-centered care to ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal diagnostic outcomes.  

  • Work collaboratively with radiologists, nursing staff, child life specialists, and anesthesia teams to support safe and efficient imaging services. 

  • Accurately document procedures, patient histories, and imaging data in the electronic medical record (EMR).  

  • Participate in ongoing education, training, and competency assessments related to pediatric imaging and MRI technology.  

  • Orient and mentor new staff and work with students and mentors appropriately during student rotations. 

  • Ensure proper operation and routine quality assurance of MRI equipment.   

  • Assist with MRI equipment issues, troubleshooting, and placing service calls. 

  • Maintain staff schedules, daily assignments, and scheduling items. 

  • Assist with peer evaluation and image quality exercises including staff credentialing. 

  • Act as the chair or co-chair of the MRI safety committee. 

  • Act in the Radiology Management absence as required. 

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program, bachelor’s degree preferred. 

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
