Full Job Description
We're looking for a Radar Scientist focused on calibration, signal processing algorithms, and performance validation across ground and flight radar payloads. This role owns the theory, algorithms, and data-level behavior of the system, from internal calibration loops to on-orbit product generation. The Radar Scientist will work closely with senior scientists and engineers, within a team responsible for ensuring key calibration and signal processing concepts are correctly implemented in the SDR and payload, ensuring that performance is validated at every development stage (near-field, far-field, and on-orbit). What You'll Do • Assist in defining and developing internal radar calibration concepts, control, and monitoring • Integrate calibration logic with Software Defined Radio (SDR) and payload control systems • Support near-field and far-field calibration and validation campaigns • Define and develop flight radar signal processing algorithms • Validate products against models and ground-test data • Define control and monitoring parameters for calibration and signal processing subsystems • Assist in defining on-orbit calibration and validation strategies • Analyze early-orbit and routine operations data • Translate calibration and signal processing requirements into SDR and hardware constraints • Provide technical input into test plans, readiness reviews, and flight qualification What You Bring • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or similar • 2+ years of experience in radar theory and digital signal processing • Experience developing and validating calibration algorithms (Phased-array calibration is preferred) • Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB • Experience working with large, multi-channel radar datasets • Experience with SDR-based radar systems (spaceborne or airborne radar is preferred) • L1/L1a product generation and validation experience is preferred • Ability to work effectively within a mixed team of engineers and scientists, with respect for different technical perspectives • Willingness to move fluidly between theory, simulation, and real system behavior • Clear technical communication skills, including explaining assumptions, limitations, and trade-offs If your experience is close but doesn't fulfill all requirements, please apply. This position requires access to technology that is controlled under U.S. export control laws and regulations. Accordingly, this position is restricted to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and protected individuals unless and until any required licenses are obtained. Anticipated salary range for this role is $115k - $135k subject to local market and candidates skills and experience. Comprehensive health benefits, unlimited paid time off and other benefits included. Relocation assistance may be offered/available for certain roles.
