Full Job Description
Develop new and specified formulas for customers, from bench to consumer, meeting customer requirements for ingredients used, nutritional claims, product function, product taste, finished cost, and ease of manufacturing. Work with current products to increase efficiencies in production. Create on a small scale what will be produced on the manufacturing floor. Supervise assistants to ensure the department functions efficiently and meets customer and production timelines. • Follow all company policies and procedures. • Follow and ensure compliance to quality system and cGMP programs. • Oversees the R&D technical department at the Solid Dose manufacturing site. • Creates and executes research plans/R&D trials to fit overall project objectives in the Solid Dose plant. • Contacting outside resources for ingredient and equipment information. Including but not limited to samples, specifications, pricing, clinical studies, lead times. • Arranging and meeting with suppliers while maintaining a positive relationship. Acquiring information on their products and documenting them. • Tracking new samples coming in, storing them for access later, and filing specifications. • Assigning tasks, responsibilities and deadlines to R&D personnel as required. • Issue pilots for new products to correct issues up front before they get to the floor. • Issue pilots for existing products to correct manufacturing issues/inefficiencies. • Create and oversee creation of Deviations and Change Orders for changes needed based on pilot results. • Answer questions from production/sales/CSR/customers regarding product issues. • Understand target markets and consumers. • Tracking progress on projects with internal departments as well as outside resources while ensuring they have the proper information & tools needed to be successful in staying within their timeframe. Qualifications: • Supervises multiple direct reports. • Five plus previous workplace experience and familiarity in Dietary Supplements industry. • Degree in the Applied Science field or other closely related discipline. • Demonstrate organizational and project management skills. • Ability to lead, train, motivate, and work within a team. • Experience dealing with and speaking with suppliers and customers. • Ability to develop productive relationships and communicate with peers, outside departments, suppliers, customers, and management. • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. • Computer skills needed. • A reputation of integrity, intelligence, creativity, and the ability to exercise good judgment. • Must be creative and be able to see opportunities. • Must be able to work with others to solve problems and meet deadlines • Maintain a regular and dependable work attendance record with few instances of unplanned and/or unexpected absence
