Summary:
The Business Unit Quality Manager's role is to ensure customer satisfaction and support continuous improvement. This role is also part of the site Leadership Team.

Job Location : Sarasota, FL

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
• Act as customers point of contact for Quality matters, Quality tasks and escalations, either directly or using direct/indirect staff.
• Define and promote the quality mindset across the site
• Manage all Quality functions working with cross-functional leadership to deliver high quality products on schedule
• Improve, enhance and maintain quality system to ensure company's facilities, equipment, personnel, methods, processes and procedures conform to both internal guidelines, regulatory standards and customer requirements
• Assures quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality standards and testing materials and products.
• Implements in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods and devising testing methods and procedures.
• Establishes standards for the disposition of finished product by devising evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.
• Institutes rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.
• Maintains product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
• Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements.
• Collaborate with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs and manufacturing and training methods.
• Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Develops a quality assurance staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
• Manages quality assurance staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
• Ensures quality by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• Achieves financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Lead site quality department and associated managers to meet site and divisional objectives.
• Lead, obtain and maintain the BU certifications (AS9100, ISO 9001, Part 145, Part 21, Safety Management System), approvals and agreements,
• Execute the quality strategy of POWER Division and lead the drive of quality improvement.
• Ensure the application of the Division Quality System and participate to its continuous improvement.
• Oversee the interface with customers, FAA and DoD with respect to Quality.
• Responsible for the Quality documents required to support the BU operations (internal instructions and records) and required by the customer (Quality Plans).
• Analyze and implement customer Quality requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role will be managing a team of 6 individual contributors. The team is comprised of Quality Specialists, Quality Engineers and a Software Engineer.

30% stationary/ 70% mobility (lifiting up to 25lbs)

Candidate skills & requirements
• Define the metrics measuring the performance of the BU: customer satisfaction, internal checking process, supplier performance.
• Document discrepancies, propose improvements to avoid recurrence, and monitor progresses.
• Monitor and report on Quality matters: metrics, Management Reviews, internal communication initiatives, and Divisional QD.
• Train teams to the Quality principles, the Quality System, and the applicable Quality tools.
• Develop Site Quality culture through all the activities of the sites by :
o encouraging quality first mentality in everything we do
o promoting the methodologies (FMEA, APQP or equivalent, QRQC, ...) and results analysis and
o promoting adequate behaviors in order to help each site member to build quality
• Provide status reports and metric updates to the Power Americas Quality Director, the Division Quality Manager, and/or the site General Manager as needed.
• Establish and promote team-building activities, both within the department and cross- functionally.
• Will be accountable for processes and procedures within their scope (i.e. Manage Quality).
• Completes quality assurance operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results. Provide status reports and metric updates to the North American Quality Director, the Division Quality Manager, and/or the site General Manager; as needed.
• Occasional travel both internationally & domestically for workshops and training as needed (generally once a quarter or less).
• Extra hours may be required during business peaks or to meet seasonal deadlines.
• May be assigned other related duties by manager.
• Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture;

Education and/or Experience
• A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Mechanical or Electrical or related area of study.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience working in a Quality function
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 year's of experience working in the aerospace industry including practical experience in design and/or quality with a demonstrated management experience.

Knowledge/Skills
• Strong working knowledge of AS/EN 9100 and Part 21 requirements and customer Quality requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Solid knowledge of Quality principles and tools, including audit techniques

Preferred Skills/Qualifications :
• 2 years' of management experience in a team environment
• Green Belt Certification or Black Belt Certification
• Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 21 and Part 145
• Aerospace experience preferred
