Job Description

Teledyne Reynolds (a business unit of Teledyne Defense Electronics, LLC) has over 60 years of heritage supplying the highest quality, high voltage interconnect solutions to the most demanding of applications in the Military/Defense, High-end Industrial, Medical, Energy and Space industries.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team!

Position Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities in a high-mix, low-volume defense electronics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, components, and services required to support production while ensuring quality, cost control, delivery performance, and compliance with defense industry requirements.

The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset combined with hands-on execution, demonstrating the ability to manage supplier relationships, mitigate supply chain risk, and continuously improve purchasing processes. A willingness to challenge traditional sourcing approaches and drive innovation within a regulated environment is essential.
  • Procurement Execution: Oversee day-to-day purchasing activities to ensure timely acquisition of materials, components, and services in support of production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Supplier Management: Identify, qualify, and manage supplier relationships, including performance monitoring for quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
  • Cost Control & Negotiation: Lead price negotiations, manage cost reduction initiatives, and support margin improvement while maintaining quality and compliance requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Champion continuous improvement in purchasing and supply chain processes, including lead time reduction, supplier consolidation, and improved demand planning.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with applicable defense industry regulations and standards, including ITAR, DFARS, AS9100 flow-downs, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Inventory & Planning Support: Partner with planning and operations teams to balance material availability, inventory levels, and production variability in a high-mix environment.
  • Performance Metrics: Track, analyze, and report purchasing KPIs such as supplier on-time delivery, cost variance, lead time, inventory turns, and material availability, providing regular updates to site leadership.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing or supply chain roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity, preferably within electronics or defense manufacturing.
  • Proven experience supporting high-mix, low-volume production environments.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing best practices, supplier negotiations, and defense industry compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in creating spreadsheets, analyzing data, and presenting information using Excel.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing modules (e.g., XA, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with electronics components, manufacturing processes, and long-lead or sole-source materials.
  • Experience with ITAR-controlled supply chains and supplier flow-down requirements.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt quickly in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Curiosity and creativity in sourcing strategies, with a passion for improving processes and challenging conventional procurement models.

In our efforts to maintain a safe and drug-free workplace, Teledyne Reynolds requires that candidates complete a satisfactory background check and pass a drug screen prior to employment.

Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a "US Citizen".
