Title: Psychiatric Physician Assistant

Weekly Hours: 35.00

Exemption Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $146,700.00

Position Summary

Responsible for coordination and direct patient care in the psychiatric inpatient setting including: conducting histories and physical exams; performing psychiatric evaluations and assessments; ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies; and establishing and managing treatment plans.

Job Responsibilities
  • Obtains initial histories and performs physical examinations. Documents clinical findings in patient medical record. Develops, implements, and oversees treatment plan in conjunction with supervising physician.
  • Provides health education counseling to patients and families. Answers questions about disease and treatment plan.
  • Acts as a "physician extender" during clinical encounters. Provides clinical services and care in conjunction with collaborating physician. Documents encouters in electronic medical record.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic studies.
  • Provides education and training of PA students who rotate onto clinical programs.


Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field


Experience

Approximately 2 years of work experience in clinical setting highly desired.
Prior experience with coordinating clinical protocols desired.
Master's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills.


Licenses and Certifications
  • Certification from the National Commission of Physician Assistants, Inc (NCCPA)
  • Current New York State Physician Assistant License & Registration
  • BLS Certification (issued by the American Heart Association)
  • Current ACLS or PALS (if applicable)
