Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Proposal Visual Designer who is a creative professional to work within the Federal Civilian Sector that partners in proposal visual strategy by shaping the visual direction, layout approach, and storytelling framework for federal pursuits and submissions.  This designer will play a key role in proposal and growth efforts by helping define visual strategy, crafting presentation storytelling, and producing high-impact graphics for federal government proposals, presentations, and more..

 

This role plays a critical part in shaping how we communicate with federal government customers by translating complex ideas into clear, compelling, and persuasive visual designs.  You will collaborate with technical experts, designers, volume leads, proposal managers, and other stakeholders to produce clear, compelling visuals. You will translate written content from worksheets, drawings, discussions, and strategy sessions into visually engaging graphics and/or slides that integrate win themes, benefits, and proof points.

 

The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and hands-on designer who can analyze needs, advise stakeholders, and independently deliver polished work across presentations, proposals, internal intranet communications, and other collateral.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

  • Partner in proposal visual strategy by shaping the visual direction, layout approach, and storytelling framework for pursuits and submissions
  • Lead visual storytelling efforts by translating complex technical and business concepts into clear, compelling visual narratives
  • Design high impact proposal graphics, infographics, and diagrams – focusing on key strategic deliverables such as concepts of operations, value propositions, transition/transformation approaches, organization charts
  • Collaborate closely with strategists, writers, capture teams, and subject matter experts
  • Design visually compelling presentations, executive briefings, and storytelling materials
  • Support internal communications through SharePoint intranet design and updates, including content creation and page maintenance
  • Develop collateral such as brochures, one-pagers, leave-behinds, and event materials
  • Apply and maintain brand standards across all deliverables
  • Manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Use AI-assisted tools to support ideation, efficiency, and design workflows

Must reside within proximity to our Reston or Herndon VA offices and be available to work onsite on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related field and five years professional experience or a high school diploma/equivalent and nine years professional experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in visual design, graphic design, presentation design, or a related discipline
  • Experience in government proposal development, including government-supplied layout, design requirements, and specifications
  • Experience with capture, or business development environments
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating proposal visuals and presentation design
  • Proven ability to translate complex content into engaging visual communications
  • Advanced proficiency in design platforms like Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Figma (Design and FigJam)
  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint design skills, including templates and animations/transitions
  • Experience designing and maintaining content in Microsoft SharePoint
  • Ability to leverage AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude and ChatGPT in the ideation & design process
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work onsite during critical proposal phases, including evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Ability to be onsite in Herndon & Reston, VA for proposal support.
  • Must be a US citizen

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in creating oral slide decks for FEDSIM proposals
  • Experience supporting federal or state government clients
  • Understanding of Design Thinking and human-centered design principles
  • Video, motion graphics, animation, or illustration skills
Target Salary Range$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
