Full Job Description

Title:

Project Inspector

KBR is seeking a Project Inspector to support the Inspection Department.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement and effectively manage the inspection function thereby ensuring that the project and Company objectives for health, safety, environment, quality, cost, schedule and business ethics are achieved.

  • Ensure that Quality Management principles are understood and implemented within all areas of project procurement activities.

  • Provide assistance to the Project Lead Inspector in planning and coordinating the inspection / QC team.

  • Monitor, support and effectively participate in the inspection functions.

  • Ensure effective co-ordination and communication within the inspection group and with the various project discipline teams.

  • Develop, foster and maintain sound working relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and independent inspection agencies.

  • Participate in maintenance of the Supplier Fact Sheet (SFS). Co-ordinate with the Corporate / Project HSE group on matters affecting the safety of field staff visiting suppliers’ premises, and in the reporting of accidents and unsafe practices and situations.

  • Participate in the setting of performance standards and assessing the results for suppliers, systems, work processes.

  • Assist in the performance assessments of field agencies and field agency personnel.

  • Recommend inspection and support expediting strategies for use in proposals and participate in the establishment of inspection costs.

  • Undertake shop surveys and participate in the appraisal and approval of proposed suppliers.

  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of project and corporate Quality Management Systems.

  • Expected to be able to apply experience and knowledge of the Inspection and Expediting functions and the principles of Quality Assurance to their roles within an EPC project environment.

  • Expected to be able to analyze and resolve technical issues, with input from other technical disciplines, and make recommendations to prevent recurrence.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree and 7+ years of experience.

  • Practical experience and knowledge of national and international manufacturing codes and specifications relevant to our industry, (ASME, ASTM, API).

  • An understanding of HSE matters associated with our industry.

  • Must have the ability to implement and effectively demonstrate commitment to project and corporate HSE and quality objectives.

  • Must have the ability to comply with specific project responsibilities and have the ability to effectively co-ordinate the efforts of assigned inspection personnel.

  • Must be able to develop and maintain effective working relations with other key project team members.

  • Responsible for guiding and developing the skills of project subordinates for the benefit of the Company and of the individuals.

  • Requires the ability to resolve the sometimes conflicting interests of the Company, Clients and Suppliers to the satisfaction of all three.

  • Willingness to travel

  • Requires the ability to fluently write and speak English.
