Opportunity

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Project Engineer to support our Huntsville, AL location.

 

The Project Engineer provides dedicated technical expertise, engineering integration, and project management support for Product Manager Scalable Hypersonics (PdM SHY). The position supports active and expanding missile programs, including Medium Range Offensive Munition (MROM), Advanced Short-Range Hypersonic (ASHS), and the transition of the Sirena program. This role ensures engineering rigor, interface alignment, and technical coherence for hypersonic systems, weapon launchers, and fire control integration. The Project Engineer translates complex technical data into actionable decisions for PdM SHY leadership and supports offsite coordination, testing, and fielding activities.

 

Duties: 

  • Technical & Weapons Integration: Support engineering integration for PdM SHY programs (MROM, ASHS, Sirena), with an emphasis on weapons integration, weapon launchers, fire control software, and aerodynamics.
  • Requirements & Interface Management: Develop, refine, and validate system requirements; manage technical interfaces; ensure interoperability across missile subsystems, launchers, and supporting fire control architecture.
  • Engineering & Trade Studies: Conduct engineering assessments, trade studies, and technical evaluations regarding aerodynamics, launcher mechanics, and integration risks to support design decisions and program execution.
  • Test & Evaluation Support: Assist in test engineering and the planning and execution of developmental and operational testing for SHY programs; review test data and track technical issues through resolution.
  • Risk & Safety Management: Identify technical risks, system integration challenges, and safety/schedule risks across active SHY missile efforts; recommend engineering mitigations and solutions.
  • Technical Documentation & Reporting: Prepare engineering reports, interface documents, technical briefings, and review materials required for PdM SHY leadership and stakeholder engagements.
  • Stakeholder & Offsite Coordination: Coordinate offsite SHY activities and liaise with matrixed Government engineering teams, prime contractors, and external program partners.
Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 7–10+ years of engineering experience in DoD, Army, or Joint missile/fires programs.
  • Direct experience in weapons integration, weapon launcher systems, fire control software, aerodynamics, test engineering, and systems integration.
  • Strong background in systems engineering, integration, or technical project management supporting complex missile programs.
  • Experience developing and managing system requirements, interfaces, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate across diverse technical teams, offsite facilities, and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare senior-level technical briefings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must have a current driver’s license.
  • Travel: 10–20% (including offsite SHY facility/test coordination).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Active DoD Top Secret / SCI / Special Access Required (TS/SCI/SAR) upon hire

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Aerospace, or related field).
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Desired Skills:

  • Specific experience supporting PdM Scalable Hypersonics (SHY) or hypersonic/offensive fires program offices (MROM, ASHS, Sirena).
  • Background in launcher integration and fire control software architecture.
  • Experience working within PEO Missiles & Space, RCCTO, or AFPO organizations.
  • Self-starter capable of managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
