Position Description

National and International collaborations are important in research, especially when integrating basic, translational and clinical research in the field of childhood, adolescent and young adult oncology. We are currently seeking a Program Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be a key member of a national team and will be responsible for the facilitation, coordination and management of collaborations within Canada and Internationally.

The national team includes experts in clinical care, genomics, proteomics, biomarker analysis, pathology, biobanking, bioinformatics, drug development, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, patient advocacy, and bioethics. Working closely with Leadership Committee Members, the Program Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations that are needed to accomplish tasks and deliverables needed for the success of the collaborations. This will involve liaising and coordinating with and supporting staff, and maintaining and developing relationships with collaborating institutions, consortiums, and networks across Canada and internationally. The Program Manager position requires a proactive and action-oriented individual with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate is familiar with the current state of cancer genetics and genomics, research ethics, data completion, privacy, protection and sharing, and stakeholder management.

Here's What You'll Get To Do

• Participate in all meetings regarding collaborative work (this will include meeting with other national and international networks and project groups)
• Organize and facilitate regular meetings with key stakeholders and team members to keep all up to date on progress and needs; prepare meeting notes and identify action plans
• Monitor finances associated with collaborative work and work with the finance team on required financial reporting
• Work with legal and contract team members to ensure that contracts and agreements are in place and executed to accomplish goals of the team
• Prepare annual and other required reports for partner funding agencies/institutions and foundations
• Assess data capture needs for each study/project and ensure that the needs are met with ongoing plans and processes
• Provide oversight of data coordination and management
• Maintain knowledge of protocols, processes and procedures
• Develop and maintain metrics used to measure success

Here's What You'll Need

• At minimum, a completion of a Master's degree program or recognized equivalent in a health or science-related discipline
• Specific knowledge about and understanding of sequencing, molecular profiling, genetics, genomics, transcriptomics, etc. is desirable
• Formal training in program management (PMP) is desirable
• A certification as a clinical research associate (e.g., SOCRA accreditation) would be an asset
• At least three (3) years' experience in project management, budget/financial management, and multistakeholder collaboration
• Proven ability to work with great efficiency and to perform multiple concurrent tasks
• Possess leadership and organizational skills and have recognized experience in these areas
• High computer proficiency, familiarity of virtual meeting/conference programs (i.e., Zoom, Teams, etc.), and data collection and sharing tools (i.e., Microsoft 365 tools/apps, REDCap, SFTP, etc.) is desirable
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate effective communication with other team members and to communicate with external collaborators and users
• Excellent conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and pay attention to detail
• Knowledge of applicable legislative, Hospital for Sick Children and/or departmental policies would be an asset
• Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high-quality work while meeting deadlines
