Job Description:
The Opportunity
As a Program Manager, Data Centers at Hitachi Energy, you will lead strategic and technically complex customer programs from initial requirements and product development through validation, industrialization, and project execution.
You will serve as the end-to-end program integrator between our customers and Hitachi Energy, bringing together R&D, engineering, product management, application engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, project execution, quality, sales, and commercial teams. Your leadership will help convert evolving customer requirements into executable, scalable, and repeatable solutions for the rapidly growing data-center market.
This is an opportunity for an experienced program leader who can operate at the intersection of customer engagement, technical development, and project execution. You will provide the structure, visibility, and cross-functional coordination necessary to manage complex dependencies, enable timely decisions, and successfully transition customer-driven developments into deployable solutions.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Own the integrated program roadmap, including milestones, deliverables, dependencies, priorities, resources, and cross-functional execution.
- Lead program-level coordination with strategic data-center customers, managing requirements, commitments, technical clarifications, and changes throughout the program lifecycle.
- Translate evolving customer requirements into clear, executable plans for engineering, product development, manufacturing, supply chain, and project-execution teams.
- Coordinate technical interfaces, grid studies, modeling, simulation, validation, and testing activities as required by the program.
- Align R&D, engineering, product management, application engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, project management, sales, and commercial stakeholders around shared program objectives.
- Establish and maintain effective program governance, decision logs, escalation paths, risk controls, and concise management reporting.
- Provide visibility and control of program risks, dependencies, changes, decisions, customer commitments, and resource requirements.
- Identify critical-path dependencies and resource constraints, and drive timely recovery actions and escalations when program commitments are at risk.
- Coordinate the transition from prototypes and product development into industrialization, customer projects, and repeatable deployment.
- Ensure customer requirements are appropriately baselined and that material changes are assessed for their potential impact on scope, schedule, cost, resources, and customer commitments.
- Facilitate timely engineering and program decisions by clarifying the issue, identifying accountable owners, establishing actions, and tracking those actions through completion.
- Turn complex technical discussions into clear decisions, responsibilities, timelines, and next steps for technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Support phase-gate readiness by coordinating the completion, review, and acceptance of required technical and program deliverables.
- Incorporate prototype and project lessons learned into future product releases, customer projects, and reusable program deliverables.
- Maintain an accurate and timely view of program status, schedule, resource outlook, technical readiness, and material variances.
- Build customer confidence through transparent communication, strong governance, and proactive management of risks, issues, and escalations.
Your Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Program Management, or a related technical discipline. An advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience leading large, technically complex programs with multiple workstreams, dependencies, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Professional experience in one or more relevant technical areas, such as power electronics, electrical engineering, power systems, battery energy storage systems, industrial automation, data centers, or comparable infrastructure.
- Experience coordinating both R&D or product-development activities and customer project execution.
- Strong program-planning capabilities, including experience managing roadmaps, milestones, governance, risks, issues, dependencies, scope changes, and resource constraints.
- The technical credibility to challenge assumptions, identify dependencies, facilitate engineering decisions, and communicate effectively with technical subject-matter experts.
- Strong customer-engagement skills, with the ability to manage technical clarifications, changing requirements, commitments, and escalations.
- Excellent executive-level communication skills, with the ability to present complex program information clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and align stakeholders across a global matrix organization without relying on direct authority.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how technical and program decisions can affect cost, schedule, scope, resources, and customer commitments.
