Production Engineer Cell Assembly (m/f/x) - CA & TX, USASkeleton Technologies is looking for a Production Engineer Cell Assembly (m/f/x) to join our team in San Jose, CA or Dallas, TX.
Responsibilities- Specify a new cell assembly line and accompany the project from equipment order through to ramp-up in Skeleton's factory.
- Act as the single point of contact for the equipment manufacturer during project execution, tracking the supplier's progress through regular timeline and task list reviews.
- Escalate delays and high risks to the Scale-up leadership team.
- Ensure that the agreed technical specifications are implemented in the equipment.
- Solve and close technical open points related to the equipment.
- Distribute and track the on-time closure of tasks owned by Skeleton internally.
- Maintain and structure equipment-related documentation for future scale-up phases.
- Own the equipment FAT at the manufacturer's site, including the FAT report, assignment of post-FAT improvement actions, and acting as contact person for the move-in to Skeleton's factory.
- Own equipment commissioning and SAT in Skeleton's factory.
- Document the SAT report and ensure post-SAT improvement actions are closed on time.
- Prepare materials for equipment-related decisions in the Steering Committee.
- Create the documents required for machine suppliers, equipment validation, and equipment commissioning.
- Calculate manufacturing output in line with the overall scale-up requirements.
- Travel for more than 50% of your working time to support equipment projects at supplier sites and Skeleton's facility in Leipzig, Germany. Current destinations include San Jose, California; Dallas, Texas; Germany and China, with trips occurring monthly and lasting up to several weeks.
Requirements- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven experience ramping up production equipment from supplier handover until the performance criteria are met, ideally in a new product introduction (NPI) or new production line launch.
- Solid experience with production equipment and automation, including PLC-controlled, interlinked production lines.
- Hands-on robot programming experience, ideally with KUKA robots (Fanuc is a plus).
- Experience with welding, beading, and crimping processes; experience with Trumpf laser systems is a plus.
- Experience with end-of-line testing.
- Experience with cell assembly equipment, including electrolyte filling.
- Background in battery, energy storage, or e-mobility manufacturing (e.g. electric motors, e-axles), or with a manufacturer of such production equipment.
- Resilience and a hands-on mindset during intensive ramp-up phases, with the ability to handle unexpected problems.
- Willingness to travel frequently (50% or more during the ramp-up phase), including regular trips to China and stays of 3-4 weeks during equipment acceptance.
- Fluent English; German and Chinese language skills are an advantage.
