Full Job Description
Product Manager, Traffic Shaping

Boston, MA

Hybrid Schedule (M/F remote, T/W/TH in-office)

About this team:

Traffic Shaping uses machine learning to determine which ad requests are worth processing. This helps publishers earn more while reducing Magnite's infrastructure costs. We operate at the scale of trillions of ad requests per day and ship improvements frequently, partnering closely with Data Science and Engineering from analysis and A/B testing through release.

We're hiring a Product Manager to join the Traffic Shaping team in Boston. You'll dig into a complex, data-heavy product area, develop a point of view, and help take features from problem definition through launch and measurement.

In this role, you will:
  • Build deep knowledge of Traffic Shaping, including the product, its data, its customers, and the systems it connects to
  • Gather stakeholder feedback and turn it into clear product recommendations
  • Analyze large, imperfect datasets and evaluate experiments, explaining what the results mean and what we should do next
  • Develop prioritization recommendations for your area grounded in customer needs, product data, technical constraints, and business impact
  • Define problems clearly and draft requirements and user stories; proposing features and improvements when you identify an opportunity
  • Partner with Engineering and Data Science from ideation through rollout and validation, surfacing risks and tradeoffs early
  • Identify opportunities to improve our product operations, launch processes, and recurring workflows; recommending what to streamline or automate and helping to put those changes into practice.

We're looking for someone with:
  • 2+ years of product management experience. You have owned product features, experiments, or improvements, partnering directly with Engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to take work from a loosely defined problem through a validated launch.
  • Strong analytical judgment. You can reason carefully about metrics, experiments, uncertainty, and data quality, even when the underlying information is incomplete. You can distinguish a meaningful result from noise.
  • Technical fluency. You can understand how a system works, ask questions that move an engineering conversation forward, and write SQL when it is the fastest path to an answer. You do not need to be an engineer.
  • Clear communication. You can turn complex analysis into a recommendation people understand, explain the reasoning behind it, and update your point of view when the evidence or a stronger argument warrants it.
  • Ownership and learning speed. You take initiative and develop a thoughtful first pass. You surface risks early, seek feedback before over-investing, and follow through. You get up to speed quickly in unfamiliar territory.
  • Relevant domain experience is helpful, but not required. Experience with programmatic advertising, auctions, marketplaces, or another large-scale transaction system may shorten your ramp-up. Machine learning experience is also helpful but not required.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

In Massachusetts, the base salary range for this role is $125,000 - $135,000.
Actual compensation will be determined based on location, experience, skills, and internal equity.

This role is also eligible for:
  • Annual performance-based bonus
  • Equity (NASDAQ: MGNI)
  • Comprehensive benefits package

During the interview process, candidates will receive more specific information about the salary range applicable to their experience and location.

Perks and Benefits:

  • Family-Focused Benefits and Parental Leave
  • 401k Retirement Savings Plan with Employer Match
