Job Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for developing and documenting manufacturing processes that enable efficient, repeatable, and high-quality production of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). This role serves as the bridge between Engineering and Manufacturing by translating customer drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation into clear work instructions and manufacturing workflows for the production floor.
The ideal candidate has strong experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), developing manufacturing processes, and creating detailed production documentation for electronics manufacturing.
Requirements
Essential Functions
• Review customer drawings, BOMs, Gerber/ODB++, assembly prints, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Develop detailed manufacturing work instructions for SMT, through-hole, selective solder, wave solder, conformal coating, test, inspection, and final assembly.
• Create and maintain manufacturing process flows for new product introductions.
• Lead or actively participate in NPI meetings to establish the manufacturing strategy for new products.
• Develop manufacturing routing and workflow from customer documentation through final production.
• Identify manufacturing risks and recommend process improvements before production release.
• Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Test Engineering, and Program Management.
• Create visual work instructions using photographs, drawings, and process illustrations.
• Ensure documentation complies with customer requirements and internal quality standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Maintain engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and document revisions.
• Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions as needed.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing personnel during product launches.
Education/Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of Process Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience in electronics manufacturing.
Work Experience/Technical Knowledge
• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Strong ability to interpret assembly drawings, mechanical drawings, schematics, Bills of Material, customer specifications, and IPC standards.
• Experience creating manufacturing work instructions and process documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
