Chemours is seeking a
Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Technology team. This position is located at the Fayetteville Works site in
Fayetteville, NC and will report directly to the Nafion™ Manufacturing Technology Manager.
This role will serve as an
Assistance to Operations (ATO) Engineer within the Products Area, providing process engineering guidance and technical support to the Operations, Maintenance, and Technology teams. The engineer will support day-to-day manufacturing troubleshooting while also driving improvements in
process safety, product quality, yield, uptime, reliability, cost, and overall manufacturing performance.
The Products Area converts internally produced resin into high-value
films, laminates, and ion exchange membranes that support Chemours' Nafion™ IXM business.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:- Provide process engineering support for Nafion™ IXM manufacturing unit operations.
- Provide Process Engineering expertise for project work to ensure compliance with specifications, engineering standards, and quality requirements.
- Initiate and review Changes of Design to improve process safety, product quality, environmental performance, manufacturing cost, and business growth.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and process issues in partnership with Operations and Maintenance and provide technical guidance and training to plant personnel.
- Lead process, product quality, yield, reliability, capacity, and cost-improvement initiatives.
- Participate in and lead Process Safety Management activities, including criticality assessments, Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), and incident investigations.
- Plan and execute manufacturing trials supporting new-product development, commercialization, and continuous improvement, including documentation and final technical reports.
The following is required for this role:- BS degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Relevant process, manufacturing, or production engineering experience in a chemical, industrial, or comparable continuous-process manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of typical plant equipment and process systems, including pumps, valves, piping, and general process controls.
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering fundamentals to troubleshoot manufacturing problems and improve safety, reliability, product quality, yield, or cost.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with operators, maintenance personnel, engineers, and other plant stakeholders.
- Willing and able to wear required PPE, including steel-toe footwear, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, respirators, and other site-required protective equipment.
The following is preferred for this role:- Experience with web handling or converting-process optimization, including capacity, reliability, yield, or web-quality improvements.
- Experience with film processing and handling equipment such as extrusion systems, transport rolls, clutches, winders, tension-control systems, web surface treaters, vision systems, and roll slitters.
- Experience with polymer processing, film manufacturing, membrane manufacturing, converting, or similar production technologies.
- Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma Green Belt experience or certification.
- Process Safety Management (PSM) experience.

$85,801.00 - $134,064.00
